My coupe project is just beginning and I have run into some trouble installing the hubs to the front spindles. The 'instructions' say it's sometimes a tight fit and a soft mallet will help persuade the hub to fit. In my case the rubber mallet procedure is totally ineffective. Has anyone else had this problem and what would the solution be?
Thanks to everyone that participates in this great forum. Tony

Usually the edge of the machined surface on the spindle seems to be the worst part. Some people have had success by sanding with emery cloth - mostly on the outside edge. Some have also frozen the spindle and heated the hub, but the disadvantage of that is it is still just as tough trying to get if off again later. I'd do the emery cloth. It supposedly doesn't take that much to get it to go.

Thanks John, I tried the cold hot solution and it actually worked on one set. The other seized about half way down. There is no way to move it. The nuts are crimped and therefore I can't use them to force the hub the rest of the way. Off to a machine shop.....
I don't understand why FFR does not even attempt to let the customer know that this could be a serious problem.
Thanks Tony

I think it is just tiny variations in machining tolerances that aren't discovered until the time comes.
