  1. Fuel Filler Neck and Lemans Gas Cap

In order to maintain the stock filler and vent tube here is what I did. First I modified the neck by cutting it and incorporating a Jeep filler hose pn# 5357970 that has a 1 ID and a 90*elbow at one end.
I had a fellow forum member fabricate some aluminum I purchased off eBay to create a mount/spacers. I also sold the new style Lemans gas cap and picked up an old style one. While few will be using a tank with this neck, if you are, this combination seems to have worked out pretty good ...

  2. Clay Acquired!

Things have been quiet on the blog front as I hit the sketchbooks, but finally I have some updates for you.

I got my tail in gear today and wandered over to The Compleat Sculptor to pick up some clay. I picked up two 1.75lb blocks of "Chavant Y2 Klay".

I'm used to working with what are called "water-based" clays - the kind of stuff that people used to dig out of the ground, lump into a vague vessel form, and throw into a fire. Your mugs, bowls, ...

That seems to be the phase I'm in now with my kit. My Roadster kit has an estimated completion date at FFR of September 3, 2011. When I look at the calendar, this seems really close, and I've started getting everything ready. I'm an OCD planner, so I guess all of this plays to my skills well.

    I've contacted ...

  4. Build Log and Details

I'm going to keep a record of work done each day, costs, issues, etc. for those wanting to compare build expenses and learn about the experience in general. Maybe someone will be able to point out some errors by reading my progress, so it's a two-way street.

  5. Inventory, chassis dolly, & body buck complete

by , 09-26-2011 at 12:11 AM (The Wrenchette: A Girl Buils a Roadster)
I have finally worked my way through all of my FFR boxes and taken inventory on all parts. I unpacked each box one at a time, checked off the items on the packing list, taped the boxes back up, and labeled the outside of each of what is inside so that it is easier to identify each box.

I also removed the hood, doors, and trunk, and unpacked the hood scoop. The main body will be stored outside in the heat on a body buck, but I didn't want to worry about the hood and other loose parts ...
