I have done the math and after getting measurements from a couple of other builders I am going with a midshift ball location without buying a midshifter.
Builder #1: 347/Quicktime/TKO500/Fortes Midshifter/Fortes 2.5" dogleg foward stick puts the shifter ball 10.5" from the vertical firewall at the front of the trans tunnel.
Builder #2: Coyote/Quicktime/TKO600/Fortes Midshifter/Fortes straight stick puts the shifter ball 10" from the vertical firewall at the front of the trans tunnel.
I am doing a Coyote/Quicktime/TKO600 and if I use the stock shifter and reverse it (supported by Tremec) and a 2.5" dogleg stick I wind up with the shifter ball at 11.5" from the vertical firewall at the front of the trans tunnel. I am 1" further back than the 347 setup with a midshifter and dogleg stick. After talking with that builder he thinks it will be fine (5th is a little bit of a reach for him anyway). I will have to cut the transmission tunnel brace and re-weld it to clear the shifter position but that's easy.
We shall see... The Fortes 2.5" dogleg stick is still only 5" tall.
