    Trailer Hitches available for order

Hey guys, as some of you know I build and sell trailer hitches for the 33. It's also got an optional bumper. So for I've sold about 12 to happy customers and I've got a couple of orders going in to have built so I was wondering if anyone else was interested? They come powdercoated for $250+ shipping. The bumper is $100 but I'll do for $75 if ordered at the same time. Please let me know within the next few days. You can see pics here.

    Eric,
what are the 2 extra bars for?
I am considering adding one of your trailer hitches to my 33 but I won't be ready for it until next spring so I can't order now, have other higher priority items for the budget.

The bars go from the hitch to the trailing link frame bar and box it in. It makes it really strong for towing. If you're just using it for a bike rack then it's not needed. I don't have a pic of that because I never needed them.

I'm definitely going to want one of those. Do you have them in stock?

They don't interfere with the FF rear exit exhaust, do they?

I have them made two or three at a time usually and don't have any in stock right now. Let me know if you want one. They don't interfere with the rear exhaust either.

I bolted the braces in so it would help in case of a minor bump from the rear. Very nice quality Erik, thanks.

Yep. I want one - with the bumper/license holder. Let me know when you need payment. Thanks.

You won't be sorry, its a great place to mount the license plate while giving you a little protection for the body.

I know your question was directed at Erik Hansen, Nick. But my understanding is that it will indeed help support the trunk floor. Of course, I have also been looking for an excuse to buy a bead roller from Harbor Freight. Rolling a few beads into the trunk floor will give it all kinds of rigidity. ERIC

You will probably have to build a spacer due to the fact that the sheet metal does not sit directly on the hitch assembly. But yeah, I agree, it would add some nice support for those heavier items in the trunk.

Yes. Sorry guys. I should have subscribed to this I didn't want to hitch to rub on the car but like Evan was saying a few spacers or a block of polyurethane or similar would be perfect.

I'm putting in an order so if anyone else wants one let me know.

I've got one of these left if anyone is considering. I don't have the bumper for it though.

Eric. Yes in deed I'm interested in it if it is not gone already. Can you let me know how much and how to pay you.

Eric, I am interested as well. It looks like you have a taker for your last "in stock" hitch. I am interested in one as well without the bumper. How long before you get some more? I am close to putting on my body for the final time and would like to install it before then. Also, I assume this works OK with the 4 link suspension (no interference), right?

Guys, I believe this hitch will only work on the 3-Link if you use the support bars but I haven't tried it. I never towed anything as I was only using it for a bike rack. If you're going to tow with it, you'll need the bars.

Erik. Sent you a pm. I wasn't towing if that matters. Thought was trunk floor support and rear plate

Tim Collins added a trailer hitch to his hot rod. There are photos in post #7 of his build summary thread: https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/show...tch#post311546

I don't know if Tim monitors the Forum these days - its been a while since I've seen him post anything. He was always generous with sharing drawings and CAD models, so he might hook you up if you can reach him...

Thanks Keith, I've read that thread front to back and then back again.. Lots of good info in there and i've printed off some of his stuff. I like the one Erick did a little more than the one Tim did so I may try to make one.

I also had saved this photo of the trailer hitch on another build, but unfortunately the URL doesn't show whose build thread it was from: http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/attac...8&d=1391547160

I was rooting around in the dark corners of my hard drive and found the attached trailer hitch drawings. I didn't record whose design this is, so my apologies to that previous builder. However, they were shared with me, so feel free to use or modify as suits your particular chassis. (They might be the structure behind the receiver integrated into the bumper in the photo above.)

FWIW, I bet many people since 2015 would buy one of these - myself included, without hesitation.

Does anyone know a guy that can build these?

Here is a couple of pics of the one that I built for my car. It is pretty much a copy of Eric's. It is a very easy fab job even for an inexperienced welder but I would be a little hesitant to build one without actually having the car in house - just because it needs to be a pretty precise fit and there seems to be a fair amount of tolerance found in some of the dimensions of the ffr frame in certain spots. I also think it would be really tough to fit one to a car with the body on. And I am not positive but I believe this particular design will only fit a car with the 3 link rear suspension. skip to post # 5
