    Cobra Caliper and Halibrand Wheels

    Hi from France.

I have the chance to own for a couple of monthes now a Mark 1 FFR.

    Frame number 1557.

I have only a few informations about it.

    Grey with black stripes.

    Probably build in Florida.

    351 Windsor . No option.

My question. I want to switch 17" mustang wheels for 17x9 halibrand.

But on FFR shop, it is not so clear for me.

May I have a problem with my 13" cobra front caliper ?

I guess they are 94-'98 Mustang Cobra caliper by Pbr

    (NOT GT ?)

May I order 4 wheels without trouble to install them ?

    Many thanks !

Welcome to the forum Antoine. I am not a wheel expert so I do not want to steer you wrong. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in soon.

I have '94 spindles, and the SVT "Cobra" calipers on the stock 13" rotors. That combination fits fine with the FFR supplied 17" Halibrand-style wheels.

I know the PBR calipers fit and FFR says the wheels work w/ 13 inch brakes of some sort. I am not sure if there is a difference between the PBR and the PBR "Cobra" caliper though. here is a source for some info. Scroll down til you see 'cobra mustang two piston calipers' and note is says for 17 inch wheels. The 'gt mustang two piston calipers' just below are listed as for 15 inch wheels.

    FFR website says :

    Front Brake Fitment :

    - 13" Mustang Performance Calipers and Rotors

    - These will not fit 2003-04 GT Calipers

I need to be sure that Pbr cobra calipers could be installed with 17 inch halibrand wheels. (not 17 inch mustang wheels).

Apparently it it ok for Gumball but, before ordering them to get shipped to France... Doubt is not an option !

Any one can give me a pict with both ?

    Thanks again

Here is the PBR "Cobra" marked front caliper with 13" rotor behind a standard FFR 17" Halibrand.

Did you happen to purchase that car from Moto X in Elmhurst Il 60126?

I have used that combination on many builds. Should not be an issue.

I have Halibrand 17" wheels on my MK III. The fronts are 17" X 9" and the rears are 18" X 10". I originally had 9" wheels all around, but wanted a wider tire in the rear, so I bought the 18" X 10" wheels last fall for the rear. My 17" X 9" wheels and tires that I took off the rear are now for sale. I ordered the new ones directly from Halibrand and they came straight away. The back spacing on the 9" wheels is about 6". I had to use 1/4" spacers with the rear wheels to keep them from rubbing on the inner fenders. I'm mot sure if this will be an issue with your car. Also, mine has independent rear suspension, which may affect the track. Either of these sizes should work fine on your car.
