Any pics with the top down
I understood that there is no top down. It's either installed or removed. Am I mistaken?

That's how I understand it.
I am looking into a few different EV heater options. These electric heaters are designed for Electric vehicles since they do not have heated water like gas engines. The output is 1800 btu, in comparison the plug in type you see at autozone puts out only about 120 btu's. 1800 will blast heat even in the coldest of temptures. They come with two dash vents and two defrost hoses. The least expensive I have found so far is 329.00 plus shipping for manual dials or up to 600.00 with touch screen controller.
Oh sorry I have posted on the heater thread. Which is better than Soft Top thread, let's move this heater discussion to the other thread.

Which system are you looking at kalatar?? I agree let's move this heater discussion. More pics please.
That is the most likely situation. Although Hot Rod Tops apparently did come up with an extra-cost "boot" for the Roadster which wraps around the partially disassembled top and allows it to be stored in place on the rear deck. But due to cost considerations, it may not be likely that they will try to do this for the 818. Don't really know, though.
Too early at this time to know the details, I guess. Let's wait until this is officially released and see what it comes up with.
For some reason, I expect an official soft top release at SEMA, but who knows...

An earlier post was wondering where the top would go. I've got the premium MkIV roadster top and it fully breaks down, folds up and placed into pouches that are easily stored in the trunk with lots of spare room left over.

F5R is still perfecting the wiper set up. I was at the factory yesterday. What they have come up with not only looks great (oem'ish) but blends well with the 818 lines. They are/have, really done an outstanding job with this "base" kit. Really shows they care about the little guy and they don't care how much cash you have simply that they want to see a FFR in your garage. This car truly is a "back to the roots" evolution of the company.
Just got the email from FFR officially announcing the soft top. It's $2499.
They also asked if there is any interest in a hardtop. I'm not sure where to send the resonse to, but I would rather have a removable hard top than a soft top.
don't forget the extra $499 for the windows... so its $2998 for the soft top
@ $1999 for the hard top it looks like a good option...

Yeah the softtop is way to much cake, hardtop looks good to me
I started a new thread in the general discussion about the hardtop. Didn't know where to respond either.
That's thirty percent of the whole kit....too rich for me.

I'll buy the soft top & windows since I planned on it from the start. But, the email says the top includes a "custom bag that fits in the trunk". Perhaps I should go out to the garage and look again at my 818S chassis, but . . . where's the trunk?

I'm assuming the trunk would be in the front
in the back, under the hinged cover

Dan, the space in the rear is bigger than I imagined and the top folds up very compactly. I always assumed I'd have to store the top in my garage or on my wife's lap (I'd need ear plugs for that!). After I mount the body I'll just build a rear compartment to fit the soft top - another fun project.
I'm glad you feel well enough and it's warm enough to resume work on your 818!
