Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's. Option for 818R and 818S Track cars.

I just wanted to give a heads up to any 818R builders or 818S Trackers-

I ordered 2 sets of Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's. I went with 17x8 Et+40 front and 17x9 Et+40 rear.

I wish I ordered them sooner, because it is a 6-8 week wait (Custom made in Europe). So keep that in mind if you want strong racing wheels to order before your build starts! :P. The price is good also.

I have personal experience with these wheels on the track, and they can take any abuse I could muster. If you watch the British Touring Car series, these are the wheels they use. I think they look great also.

    Thanks- Chad

Hi Chad, Great looking wheels. What made you go with 17s instead of 18s in the rear. I'm building an 818r and am wondering about clearance. Thanks, Rick

The reason I went 17's- Race tires are generally cheaper in that size, and a little lighter depending on tire aspect ratio.
    Thanks- Chad

I am in the market to purchase brakes and wheels for my upcoming 818R. 2 questions:
    If i wanted to go with 18's in the rear would i be ordering 17x8 Et+40 & 18x9 Et+40?
Would i then go with the 6 Piston, 13” Front / 4 Piston, 12.88” Rear High Performance Wilwood Brakes?
    Thanks for your help, Brando

I think the highest they go in 18's is +35. That was another reason I stuck with 17's. I'm not saying the 18 +35's will not work, I just feel more comfortable with +40 all around since you can always use a spacer to space them out.

I have no idea about the clearance with the 6 pots. IMHO 6 pots are overkill on the 818R's weight. Save your money and just get the 4 pots.
    Thanks- Chad

I have 6 piston Wilwoods on the front of my 818r, and the stock wrx 17s clear them.

Do you know that, in fact the ET+40 will fit in the 818 front and rear? Look like great wheels, and they offer all kinds of latitude in sizing. Also, what hub size is required for Subaru?

They will fit. If for some crazy reason they don't, being that they are +40 means you can run a small 5mm spacer and be good. You cant do that the other way around. I have 4- 5mm hubcentric spacers I can play with.

    Hub size is 56.1mm.
    Thanks- Chad

I used 1.2 Spec Miata wheels before with great results. These might be my 818 wheels as well. Please keep us updated on fitment.

We run these on our Supercharged Miata and have had nothing but great results with these rims. I kinda forgot about considering them for the 818, but have put them up at the top of the list for now.

Just don't forget about the fronts needing to be at least 30mm narrower.

FYI- the +40 were taking too long. Changed to +38 to get them in a reasonable amount of time.

Sorry guys. I am on my Honeymoon. I did receive 8 wheels about 1.5 weeks ago. They look great, but I will have to play with them once I decide on tires.

    Boom!
    I have a roller!

Front 235/40 R17 Toyo RR (17x8 +38 with 3mm spacer for now) just a little rub at full lock- this is without adjustment or alignment yet. I'm not worried about it since my other race car rubs worse at full lock. It's never been an issue on the track.
Rear 255/40 R17 Toyo RR (17x9 +40 with 5mm spacer- Clears regular WRX trailing arm fine- but car still need alignment)

Het Cha now that you have a roller are you happy with the offsets or would you change. I am getting ready to order stuff and I am in the same boat as you with the 17s and the tire expense.

I'm happy with what I have. I'm running 5mm spacers on the rear, and 2mm spacers on the front. I'm not sure if I will run the front spacers. I need to mount the fenders to see exactly. Its easier to add a spacer, than be stuck with a wheel that wont work.
They are great looking wheels, strong enough for racing, and have a great price point. I have 2 sets.
    Thanks- Chad

An update on this since I am trying to decide? I was asked why 18s on the rear and I did not have a good answer...

I think that since you can custom order the offsets, there is no reason to go to 18" in the rear. The other reason some guys went 18 is because of street tire selection. We don't seem to have that problem with race tires on the R. I'm happy I went with 17" all around.

FYI- I am not running any spacers on the front anymore, no need. I still have 5mm on rear.
    Thanks- Chad
