Picked up our kit today and took a tour of Factory Five. Got it loaded and got on the road back to MI.

A few days ago my brother and I tried to heat the garage so we didn't have to build in the cold..

    That turned out well .

Yes, and our military diesel heater caught fire when the exhaust pipe melted. Almost burned down the house. But luckily my dad caught it and got the jerry can of the back of it. So we pulled it out into the courtyard and let it burn till it put it self out.

I'm confused. You said you picked up your 818 today and then said the garage burned a few days ago. The 818 was not burned up, right? Please tell us your #93 is okay. Please don't say it was in the fire.

Ahah we got the kit two days after the "fire". The garage is ok thankfully.

We got home today and unpacked the boxes. Frame is still on trailer, it got really dirty on the drive home.
Main thing that is on backorder is upper ball joints. Might slow down the build.

Whew. 818 and garage are okay. I found that if you are cramped on space some boxes can be consolidated, but list what's in what box. You'll find lots to do while waiting for back ordered parts. You don't have to follow the manual in strict order. I'm glad the 818 didn't burn!

I can't get the long bolt that goes through the back lower links off. Any ideas? And I got the nut off.

They tend to rust to the sleeve inside the bushing of the link. When I first changed bushings on my WRX I had to cut the bolt off and press out the bushings. No way it was ever coming off the bushing.

Don't mock Bob's heater! (I think I have the same one, lol).

If you get 2 piece bushings they install easily. Factory ones need a press.

My heater puts out 100,000btu's. But when we got out there the 10' flames made it a lot warmer.

I used an air chisel with a narrow bit and pushed it out. The vibration freed it up.

We got our donor from 818 Donors and are supposed to have upgraded adjustable lateral links and new bushings and we don't. So are now plan is the cut the bolt off and try to get it out. Then replace the lateral links.

So far the front aluminum is in. Just waiting on the rear suspension. Might put the engine in.
