Flasher does not return to off with steering wheel

    Hey all,

I am chasing a donor and looked at one this evening. This question is not to discuss donor but an issue I found.

The guy changed the s/w and is using an NRG quick release.
But when you turn and engage your turn signal, when you come back straight the turn signal and arm don't stop flashing. The arm stays in blinking mode and so the flasher. He said apparently it's cuz he's using a quick release and remove the OEM s/w.

    I'm not sure about that!
If yes, it means everyone using an 818 and not using the OEM wheel will end up having to put the flasher arm back to it's rest position manually.

    What are your thoughts?

Non-cancelling turn signals... anyone who's ridden a motorcycle (or driven a recent BMW, LOL) learns to deal with it!

missing the little tab that flicks them off when the wheel rotates... look up a recent thread with wheel and no quick release. He had a photo

I would never have found it (the answer is in a picture).

Now the thing is to know what I need to buy to have that tube. I guess Adam at Somerset can help me here.

F818, you could make your own. Look at the small plastic lever that is on the left side of your steering column that extends inward when the turn signal arm is moved up or down. Make a metal or plastic tab that you can fasten to the Momo adapter that returns the lever to normal/middle. In this photo there's an arrow to the tab you'll want to make and the lever from the turn signal switch is at 9 o'clock in the column housing, but not visible in the photo. Making it yourself would be more fun, and cheaper.

Ok I see better on that picture. It's true, I could build one. I would be missing the cooper cuz that entire part is missing. The car doesn't even have a horn. Now not sure if it's easy to "build" one. Different story than the non-canceling signals, but it seems to be part of the same piece.

It wasn't that long ago, how did you miss it frank? I watch all the 818 threads to learn what I can and apply to my build. I remembered this one because I'll need to do the same thing!

I don't know Dan. My bad I agree, it's indeed a very recent one. I guess I simply thought in a childish way, I read the subject "FFR s/w installed" and said to myself "I don't have an FFR s/w so this doesn't apply to me". Obviously I realize a lot of threads contain many great ideas that I could re-use and god knows I will be needing a lot of these for my build! I should read them all. Besides, next time I see a thread started by THE Arizona Pete, I'll read it 10 times.

I'm def blessed with ADD... I watch sports, shows like CSI and thrillers while doing double duty on my netbook, cruising the internet, shopping craigslist etc... Our best source of information and solutions is the skill and creativity of the other builders... I try to file it away for future use. I wish the search functions on most forums worked better tho...

I've also been laid up with a bad back and other health stuff for months! UGH too much free time on my hands, I made a major milestone this AM. I was able to put on my socks without debilitating pain!

yup, back is improving. I just went out and bought a "new to me" toy yesterday. Excellent condition John Deere 318 tractor with 50 inch deck, 47 inch snow blower and cab. Records for every oil change etc... by hr meeter reading included. Spent the AM reorganizing "stuff" to give it a home. I needed more snow removal capability with some of my health issues for my wife. She's dangerous with the Blazer plow truck

Doing all that I can to increase my piston count, I'm now at 125!

Off to the osteopath for manipulation appt in 15 minutes.

Do you guys think it is possible to install the steering wheel without the clock spring? The seller does not have the piece.
