We know it works to make the ECU happy enough not to throw a code, but it can't tell which gear it's in. Does it matter? Probably not and will be good to see how it goes with your car! Thanks for the update!

I'm not entirely sure why you need the vss simulator. Is this something I'll need to look into with my iwire harness?

Btw, post more videos Chad. The sound in your videos makes me want to drop whatever I was planning on doing and get back in the garage.

You will not need that. Chad is running an 05 LGT trans that does not have a VSS (05 LGT gets it from the ABS). Yours will be totally normal and use a stock VSS.

I call it planning ahead. LGT Trans= beefier gears than a WRX trans. Is also a 4.11 final drive. All benefits.

My JDM 5sp (which has beefier gears and a 4.11 final drive) has a VSS so I get benefits ++

which model of those fuse/relay boxes do you use for these harnesses? I really like them, on the website I was looking at they have a 15303-2 -4 -5 and -6. was wondering which ones you used?

Depends on what you are trying to do. I use the single bussed fuse and wire up the relays one by one, but you could use a non bussed as well depending on how many relays/fuses you need to hook up and what kind of power they need.

that makes sense, the website I was on didn't really describe the difference between the models so I was kind of guessing.

I used two 15310s for mine.

Depending on how many circuits you keep and if you combine them, you can end up needing a lot of space. I didn't use busses boxes because some of my circuits are battery powered and some are ignition powered.

    I also used these relays:

Just an update to the thread.

I really need to rename this harness. Working on the first true S model and have sorted the factory steering column issues. So, although it is designed for the "less is more crowd" most S owners would be very happy with all features available.

    One more update.

We're now offering the choice for circuit breaker or fuse for the main power wire and no more solder joints to shorten the main engine plugs as I have found a source for the terminals (note: these are NOT for sale, sorry guys have to keep somethings to myself).

These are panel/dash mount style but will also be available in a surface mount style depending on what people want.

Very nice. If I ever pop a main fuse, I'll grab one of those. I don't think I ever have popped the main one, but it would suck if you were at the track!
    Thanks- Chad

It's so unlikley. Pretty much the only time I've ever seen the main fuse blow is if you arc the alternator when taking the terminal off with the battery still connected. I put an extra main fuse in the box so you should have one you can carry down so at least you can keep going if something were to happen.

Do you want a circuit breaker? It's not really an improvement so to speak, just adds options because some are partial to one over the other.

Very close to the R (except for Chad's because he's "special"). Big difference is no switch panel and use of factory column switches. He also has leads to hook up an AC system. It's more a function of letting people know that this kit can fit the bill for most builds, S or R.

What's the price on s model and what's needed to be sent in? Or can we sell off the factory harness to offset the cost? Thx

Same price as R. It might be a little more depending on how many add-ons you want. I need the factory Subaru harness because I use it as the base to build this one. Besides the factory harness, ECU, and fuel pump controller I just need the lighting plugs and the fuel tank plugs that FF provides.

I wish I could bring down the cost, but the time in labor and cost of materials just doesn't make that possible at this point.

Let's do it! I have your intake manifold harness here. I'm going to use it for a prototype for an option of custom intake manifold harnesses for guys that are taking things out like TGVs.

Just get a JDM engine and don't have to worry about TGV delete or harness

Well, that would be one solution.

Hello, I'm really interested in this wiring kit but I have an 05 STI donor car and it has become my full track car. Therefore, my stock wiring harness is pretty much cut up for weight saving purpose. I have a few questions. This is for the S model as I like to be street use but more of a hybrid like an RS a little bit more on the track side.

1). I will be using my 05 STI as donor and I would like to see if the harness will work or I may decide to use the 04 STI ECU to eliminate the immobilizer or can I just use a 06 WRX ECU which is a 2.5L? Whichever is easiest.

2). Of course I wouldn't be needing the DCCD function and I will be using the 05 STI dash cluster instead of a WRX. Can it be wired up using the STI cluster?

3). Like I said, my stock 05 STI wiring hardness is chopped up. So do I need to sent in my stock harness or how's that going to work out? I really like to avoid to spend the time to take the stock harness out if not needed.

If I can avoid using the stock harness that would be perfect.

    Thank you.

    Thank you.
    1. Yes, we can do that no problem. However, I would suggest that you leave the 05 ECU in there. It's actually a better ECU to tune. The problem with the 04 it's basically designed as a 2.0 WRX ECU and they slapped the drive by wire and AVCS as it was a bit of a band-aid for Subaru to get the first USDM STi out. The 05 ECU is the first actually built for USDM STi platform.

    2. STi cluster, and any cluster someone might desire is not a problem. The plugs are the same as USDM WRX, it just has extra pins for the extra features.

    3. What exactly is cut? Ideally I would need the ECU to engine section uncut as we use some of the stock harness as a base. Beyond that, it doesn't really matter as I can use just the leftover pieces or grab them off a scrap harness from here. Shoot me some pictures to iwiresales at gmail.com

    Thanks,
    Brian

    2 for 2.

Just a heads up to anyone still looking for an engine. Any Impreza turbo/non turbo engine from 93-07 can be wired up with the factory ECU and will bolt right in to the 818. I generally recommend 02 and up because it opens up all of the modern tuning options, but it's not requirement.
