    818R suspension on a 818S

How harsh of a ride are we talking about? I don't plan on daily driving my car but will probably drive it a couple times a week when the weather is nice. I do however want a very track worthy car seeing as how Circuit of the Americas and a few of my favorite local tracks are very close. Streets around here aren't super smooth but are mostly free of potholes and major obstacles.

I think you're a couple month's out from a real answer to this question. There's not enough folks with R-cars who are (a) planning to run them on the street and (b) have actually finished said plans to be able to say from experience. In fact, I don't know of any finished R-cars aside from what Factory Five itself put together.

FWIW, the S-car should be quite track worthy in its own right. What sets the R apart isn't entirely in the shocks and springs. Apart from those, the biggest difference in terms of set up (i.e. what accounts for its superior track capability) are the tires, lower ride height, and aero. Here are some thoughts on these:
    1. Tires: huge, huge, huge difference. So if you want to immediately up the ante of your S-car, swap out R-comps when you go to the track.
    2. Lower ride height: at around 3-1/2" ground clearance not fun on the street, so something to seriously consider before doing.
    3. Aero: on the street, that race front splitter combined with the reduced ground clearance isn't going to last long.

So there's a lot to work out here when considering what you're after for a dual-purpose S-car.

    Best,

So it's really not all that bad. Would you see it being a problem on longer trips say 2 maybe 3 hours?

IIRC you have the R shocks but not the stiffer R springs. I would think that the lower R suspension height would be a problem with ground clearance, the S height will bottom in some situations...

What I'm considering running is the S ride height with the full r suspension and aero.

The shocks are going to be fine... its the 500lb springs in the front. I am a ways away from street testing but I can tell you that they are very stiff.

I don't think 2 hours is going to be bad... i'm sure there aren't many potholes in texas.

It would be a bit like any lowered high performance type car, but two three hours would be ok, but not comfortable.

I'll probably go with what y'all are running. I was considering the R springs and shocks but from the sound of it R springs are going to be really harsh.
