    PDG at Laguna July 26-27

FFR friends and Family: A pair of sprints races are in store at the Mazda Speedway in Monterey. Steve will be piloting the Myraceshop, Mendeola GTM this weekend. We will also be testing the new LS3/525 and gear box that will be used in the upcoming 25 hour race. We have been working with the new Hoosier s-100 series race slicks and now switching over to Yokohamas new and improved race slick. Lots of fun and excitement as Chris Durbin (former PDG driver) will be flying in from the East coast to for the weekend driving his SLC in the SU class. Also in attendance will be scheduled, LMPC Panoz, 2 Normas in our SU class. The Panoz and Normas are really no match for us, but still makes for great racing.

All are invited to come and help or hang our with the team

    Richard

Last out, Davy Jones drove the GTM at Sonoma. Davy drove an excellent race proving why he is the most decorated road racer in America. Although the GTM was no match for the Norma and Panoz, it was a great time had by all! Davy's daughter, Carrera, changed tires and cleaned windows and Davy's sister happened to be in San Fran for the day and stopped by. Jim's cousin and brother attended and it became a family reunion of sorts that made the weekend one to remember for a long time! On Sunday, a GT3 Porsche entered with fresh rubber and took the third position away from us at the end. PDG ended the weekend with a third and fourth place finish in the SU series putting us only 165 points out of first. With 8 races remaining, we will see what Steve can do at Laguna.

    See you at the races,
    Team PDG

Sounds like a great time Richard

It's amazing but the 25 hour is right around the corner.

Do you also plan to run the Yokohama tires in the 25

I would love to hear how the S100s compare grip/ wear to the Yokohamas

We are testing a number of things in prep for the 25 this next weekend. What we will run depends upon what the outcome of this weekend is. New engine, new gearbox, new tires/rims. Don't know if the shock changes and ARB changes have been done yet or not, but they are on the list.

Just got back from Laguna. A lot of Iron on the track. World Challenge Porsches made a majority of the SU field along with the Panoz, two Normas and a stock car, along with Chris Dirbin's SLC. Long story short, we out qualified him and finished ahead on Saturday and he out qualified us and finished one position ahead of us. Now the good, the bad, and the ugly.
    GOOD
The Yokohamas scored our fastest laps at the track on Saturday. The new 25 hour motor was broke in and performed near perfect with a small glitch in the fuel map (solved on Sunday) The wear was very good across the board and next we will be running them at Thunderhill for distance. We will be attempting to run them at our strategy lap times and see how far they will go. The new Mendeola gear box worked very well and very smooth.
    BAD
Our trip to Utah to defend our 2013 overall win and record laps completed will not happen this year. We will be here planning for a test day with tires and drivers. Also a sad note: Steve Zadig, 4 year driver will be missing the 25 hour with us because (great) his Norma (ESR) will be ready and he will be driving with his son in the 25. OF COURSE the deal is that he has to pit next to us! We had contact on the first lap on Sunday's race that could have cost us a position at the end, beating the SLC, but that is racing. After reviewing the video, it was clearly a risky move that could have taken both cars out of the race.
    UGLY
It rained on Sunday morning, but dried up by the time our event started--rain in California, in July? Must have been a dream. The Hoosiers were fast for only a short time and fell off (S 100) Didn't get 2 hours of completion racing out them.

    Everyone had a great time!

Our next endurance race will be Oct. 4 at the newly paved Buttonwillow. We may possibly campaigning two FFR's at this one, so stay tuned!

    See you at the races,
    Richard

    Hmmm. Risky move.

Looks like the only risk was not checking mirrors. 38 sec mark SLC is along side of way wide GTM. 41 sec mark GTM moves down and contact. 3 seconds is an eternity in racing.

I guess a video is all about perspective.
