    Surprize today

Got a pretty cool surprise today. Pulled into one of my clients driveways and saw that his garage doors were open. Sitting inside was CSX2540! Holy crap! I knew he was into cars, but had no idea he had an original 1964 289 Cobra.

Yup. It has it's original engine back in and the roll bar has been removed (back to original condition). I was also offered the "race engine" that was installed in the car after the "Honey West" series to put in my build.... of course I can probably not afford to get it, but how cool would THAT be!?

That's awesome! That's what I'm shooting for with my 298 build. How much is he asking for the engine?

Not sure. I will find out next week. He said it was a 289 (302) with 351 heads and dual quads - build by Ford in 1964.

Pretty Cool, thanks for sharing. Really like the chrome wire wheels and small white walls!

Some info I found on that CSX:
    The Honey West Cobra

CSX 2540 was loaned out by Shelby American in 1965 for use in the Honey West TV Detective Series starring Anne Francis.

The car was sold by Shelby American in 1966 as a 'used car' for $3900.

There is some confusion about the year of the car on the internet.... several places list it as a 1965, but the production number clearly is from 1964. Not sure why that is. I have actually seen a placard that was with the car that said it was a 65, but all of the papers with the car list it as a 64.

By the way - I am going to buy the other engine (the race engine that came out of the car). I don't care how much it costs. I think it will be WAY cool to have an original 1964 HO 289 in my build. Plus, it has a history behind it.

That is a really cool find. What about the car parked next to it w/ "600" on the door?

The one with the "600" on the door is an old Alfa roadster "racer" (that he takes on the track).

Nice car and memories.. I remember certain "feelings" about Anne Francis back in my teens when the testosterone levels were a lot higher!
