    Height of roll bar

    Hi guys

Can someone tell me what the height of the roll bar from the RHS that it is attached to? I am designing a hard top for my 818S and thought that it might be useful if it would fit the R also.

As an aside, does anyone know why FFR did not take advantage of the 10 degrees slope the vertical bars can be and still be FIA certified? Would make the aesthetics of an R roof much better. Might end up looking a bit like a Landrover or have part of the roll bar exposed.

    Anyway, thanks in anticipation.

    Cheers
    George

Where do you need measurement from? Don't forget the 10 degree lay back takes away from height and the height is needed for tall people

From the top of the RHS (rectangular hollow steel) chassis box section to the top of the roll bar. I understand the roll bar is higher in the R version than the S. Cheers

Wow, can't believe someone didn't answer this one already. I get approx. 15-3/8" from the top of the RHS to the top of the roll bar.

[Lately I've been seriously digging Leinenkugel's Big Butt Doppelbock, so you can hook me up with a 6-pack and we'll call it even. )]

Thanks for the reply! The reason it hasn't been replied to is that for some reason, this subforum doesn't show up on the "recent posts" view, so unless you go into the 818R specific forum, you won't see new messages.

What is RHS? Is that the horizontal bar that the rollbar mounts to?

    Got it.

Patterson was referring to RHS as "rectangular hollow steel" for the point from which he wanted the measurement taken, so I used his terminology. It's the steel tubing on which the roll bar mounts. Of course, that tubing is not rectangular, unless my shop teacher lied to me when he said that 1.5" x 1.5" steel tube was square tubing. =)
