Getting warmer... splashguards w/vents, rollhoop grommets and leather sleeves

Here are a few more teaser photos - graduation coming soon!!!

Splash guards are in - I added cooling vents to the front guards (like many of the comp cars back-in-the-day) so that the header area gets a little more airflow.

I also re-sized my roll hoop openings when I was doing body work to accommodate the Mk4 bar and to allow for rubber grommets I sourced from McMaster for that old-school look. I made the rear oval using two of the rounds - just cut them and beveled the edges so that they'd fit up against the angled bar:

A final touch was some leather covers in the trunk for the roll hoop mounts. We had some leather left over from the seats and dash, so the upholstery guy sewed three of these up with Velcro closures (two for the visible bar mounts and one for the unused passenger stub):

Here's a wider angle shot of the nearly complete car. I just need to add the bumpers, hood/scoop, trunk lid, seats, wheels, and some misc small bits. Everything has been on the car countless times during fitting and re-fitting, so I'm guessing about ten more hours of work.
