    IRS disassembly problem

I have a 93 mk8 irs. I have followed the FF IRS installation Instruction. On page 10/31 the statment of ( the fixed joint and the inner plunger joint need to be tapped off ) This is where I an having a problem. I put the half shaft axel in a vise. I made a slide hammer with a 5 lb weight that is connected to the 24x2.0 thread. When I try to seperate the fixed joint and the inner plunger joint from the half shaft axel it does not come apart. When I use the slide hammer it sounds as soild as a rock. What am I doing wrong ? Thanks Gene I an eager for your feed back.

The IRS option comes with assembled half-shafts, now, so this isn't really needed anymore. The way to do it is the pipe drop method
