    Wastegate Solenoid

My wastegate solenoid vacuum lines are so bad they're pretty much plastic. I know there is a restrictor in the line going to the turbo outlet (green circle in my picture), but mine seems to have a restrictor in the manifold line (blue circle). The one in the outlet line is easy to transfer to the new line, but the one in the manifold line looks very different. Anyone know if a restrictor is necessary in the manifold line? This is from a 2005 WRX EJ20.

Oh, and I just realized that I said manifold when I really meant turbo inlet. Sorry for any confusion.

I don't think I've ever seen the one circled in blue.

The blue one should not be there so you can run a new line with out it.

That's awesome. Someone used an environmental splice sleeve to repair a cut/broken line...

Bingo. Unfortunately, it's not the worst part of this donor.

Your diagram is off, the "to manifold" should read " to air intake".

    That's a legit fix!

    /sarcasm

When I bought a motor once the previous owner (never met him, junkyard buy) had removed the bypass valve for a BOV. He plugged the turbo inlet with a clutch tool and zip tie. Might explain why the car (an 06) was in a junkyard (in 07).

best thing you could do is just upgrade to a 3 port boost solenoid or elimnate it all together and run a manual boost controler unless you are wanting to keep it stock

I'm putting it on the road stock.

I have a 2.5L block, pistons, rods, VF30 turbo, and AVCS heads to put in after I get it on the road. I'll go with an EBCS when I upgrade. I still haven't decided on what engine management to use - I'm keeping my eye on the MegaSquirt build going on.

I worked with the MS guys to get the crank/cam code worked out and the MS3Pro works great. I'm a dealer for the products and have a base map for the EJ257

Awesome. Is remote support feasible? I'm 1000 miles from Alabama. Does the VF30 concern you? It's a bit of a rare bird so it's hard to find an off-the-shelf map for it.

Remote support is done all the time. The VF30 while rare is still just an air pump and have tuned similar set ups and just got done tuning a 818 making 411 RWHP/397RWTQ yesterday and have tuned 5 from stock to the above set up.
