    Competition upgrades to chassis

Received coupe kit last Thursday, have been sorting everything out and trying to get ready to get started. I'm wondering if anyone has a list of mods that would make a type 65 chassis legal for most sanctioning bodies, particularly in the mid-west. Planning on 1 1/2 DOM door bars and 1 1/2 bay braces but not sure on tubing thickness or other details, (fuel cell guard etc). Car will be street legal but would like to enter competition events. After racing dirt circle track for 25 years just looking for a new playground without so much carnage.

Welcome to the forum and the wonderful world of the coupe. If you do a search for "competition coupe" there will be a lot of threads you can look at.

Also read rule book for the sanctioning body you want to compete in. It will give you the details on the roll cage required.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Thanks for posting Hank! As an FYI, Hank worked with both the SCCA and NASA in the door bar design, and unless you are planning something far more serious with your Coupe (land speed record runs, or under 8 seconds at the drags, etc.), the door bars designed for the Competition Coupe Series should meet any sanctioning body regulation. As a tip, if you are looking to secure a logbook for the car, follow the guidelines we've developed and secure the logbook from your regional NASA division. Visit www.nasaproracing.com for regional contacts.

Congratulations, and welcome to the Coupe community.....Good luck with your build!!

I couldn't have developed my cars and our team would not have secured so many championships without the help of the good folks on these forums.....
