    Clutch master/slave sizing

The unfinished kit I acquired has an older Forte hydraulic clutch setup. The CNC slave cylinder is 7/8 bore (the only size available) and the master is a Wilwood, also 7/8 bore. Should the master cylinder bore be 1" or 1-1/16"? I seem to recall others having issues with clutch arm travel.

When I bought the setup in my Mk4 from Forte a year or so ago, the setup he was recommending at the time was a Wilwood 1-1/8 inch MC and CNC 7/8 inch slave cylinder. With the Forte TKO bracket and pushrod to the standard clutch fork location, yields approx 1.1 - 1.2 inches of throw at the clutch fork. Works fine.

On a similar thread on the other forum, someone said he's now recommending 3/4 inch slave. First I've heard this (doesn't mean it's wrong) but interesting if you say 7/8 is the only size available.

CNC only makes a push cylinder in 7/8, but McLean makes a 3/4 that's over $150! The CNC MC is available all the way up to 1.25"

Another vote for the Forte's setup purchased 1.5 years ago for my TKO - 7/8" CNC slave matched with a Wilwood 1 1/8" master (I guess now the 'old setup' from him). ~4.5" of pedal travel produces 1.1" - 1.2" of the clutch arm. Works perfectly. I like the balance of pedal travel to feel. Firm but not heavy, great feel with my dual friction Centerforce clutch, and allows you to move the clutch pedal away from you more giving you more leg room. I had to cut a bit off the master push rod to get the pedal height at rest where I wanted it.

Not cheap though - if I recall it was $300 for just the bracket, hardware, slave, and braided AN line. Didn't include the master as I already had it.
