Hatch glass retrofit of 1st gen coupe

Fitting the glass to the hinges. The bottom of the glass where it latches seems to be too high. I can't get a seal on the weather strippping.

I would rather not make fiberglass alterations to a painted car! What is the alternative?

I had the opposite issue. When I did the retrofit, my glass hatch sat high at the top of the hatch. I did the retrofit at Factory Five (just before the Open House in June). Dave C. and Dan Golub helped me with the final fitting and suggested a layer of flat weatherstripping laid on top of the regular weatherstrip. Worked just fine for me.
