Clutch will not bleed

So I went to bleed the clutch today and no go, I could not get the clutch to draw fluid, I was using a vacuum pump, and would not draw fluid from the slave cylinder bleed valve, I have s JDM 5sp, so the slave cylinder is different than the USDM one, so I could not try a different slave cylinder. Any ideas ?

Have you tried to pump just the pedal, and the slave is the same as an 02 Usdm wrx I presume.

When I pump the clutch pedal it does nothing just goes to floor, and I can keep doing it and nothing. The slave cylinder in plastic is a 02 WRX replacement slave cylinder, and you can see the mounting holes are different

Make sure the clutch master cylinder pushrod is not depressing the plunger in the master cylinder with the pedal up. You should have a tiny bit of clearance. Then apply a vacuum to the slave with the bleeder open and the slave plunger all the way depressed in (hold it with a clamp) If there is any question then remove the pushrod and try it. You may need to leave the vacuum on it for 10 minutes. If that fails then your master cylinder plunger is not returning all the way or something is plugged.

Have you disconnected the pedal clevis and tried it? When connected, the pedal restricts the range of motion of the plunger, which made it impossible for me to bleed the clutch until I pulled out the clevis pin.

Nope, I can do this tonight and try to push it in by hand, will also try the slave cylinder plunger that Quiny posted below

Yep, I had the same problem and had to pump the master cylinder by hand (clevis disconnected from pedal). It's took several minutes of pumping but eventually you will push the fluid through.

Just be tenacious.

Subaru clutches are a notoriously huge pain to bleed.

Just have to keep at it for way more time than you think you should have to.

I had a few min last night so I took the clevis off the pedal and pumped by hand (I also had the slave piston held with clamp) and then bled some of the air out and I have about half a pedal now, not sure why only half a pedal but was doing this alone so there might still be air in the slave someplace. I did not see any leaks in the fittings so don't think I'm sucking in air anyplace. Thanks all !
