    Christmas hardtop tease?

Please FFR can you "leak" us some more teaser photos of the development of the hardtop design?

It would be the best Christmas prezzie 👍

I'm anxious to see it as well. I'm not confident in the S's rollover protection and I'm entertaining the idea of a custom cage in conjunction with the hard top.

Yes I have seen the hardtop in person, on Monday
A full cage under it is possible I think. It's not finished, but the outside shape looks good and they are working on finalising the other stuff like how to open the hatch above the engine, interior hoodlining etc
No photos as FFR didn't want any taken.

I can't wait! Although I wonder about the increased weight/cost.

With non-opening doors and a small window, I would imagine you would have to be a contortionist to get in and out of an 818R with a hard top - but I'd love to be proven wrong by a youtube video of someone pulling it off.

Some photos showing the fitment issues might help explain it better....

I'm waiting for it to become available. I don't think it will be any harder to get in then the 818S with the soft top on. The rear side windows look like a good place for an intake scoop on the drivers side as you wont be looking out that one anyway. Just have to work out how to get a window demister/aircon under the dash.

Awesome to hear, can you answer some quick questions Kalstar?

How closely does it resemble the Vman design? Does it look like it was always supposed to be a coupe or does it look even a little bit like an after thought?

    Thanks man.

How many main parts to it?
Does it include the windshield like the 33?
Is a targa style top? ( the hatch above the engine infers probably not )
    Side window option?

I'm hoping they make it compatible with the soft top side windows. This would make the retrofit that much easier.

Is that even the 818? I realize its not full scale but the contours dont resemble the 818.

No, it is the early miniature model of Rodneys concept for the design competition.
It resides on the wall in the FFR shop.

It isn't, Jay is messing with everyone. They obviously want it a secret.

How about with power windows? Wouldn't that be a game changer. There is a reason this top has been delayed. Lots of R&D going on to make this "hair on fire" they will make it the best they can while still keeping it affordable. What will make it into production only few know (and I am not one of them). As I said when they release it, it will be worth the wait. BTW Jay post is not far off from what I have seen.

Power windows are great and all and would certainly be a game changer. But from my perspective, a toy car like this should be a roadster first, meaning I would only put a hard top on in spring and fall to extend the driving season. The added weight, cost, and complexity of power windows wouldn't be worth it to someone such as myself.

To be fair, the soft top is obviously a better match for someone like me, so my opinion should be properly discounted
