Sidewall stencils on Avon CR6ZZ tires

I wanted a vintage race appearance for my 15" wheels with Avon CR6ZZ tires, so was looking for a way to do the sprayed "AVON" stencil on the sidewalls. After buying the Raceline Digital version of stencils, which in my opinion were way too large for the tires, I happened upon a cheap set of 2" cardboard stencils at the local office supply store - $2.99.

So, after giving the sidewalls a good cleaning, taping together the stencil letters with the right radius, and spraying with some SEM parchment interior dye........

    Here's the stencils I used:

I held the spray can about 12" - 18" from the tires so that the dye went on fairly dry. They have just the right amount of overspray to look like race tires, so if you're looking for a more finished white lettering job, this probably isn't the method for you.

Here's what the tread of the CR6ZZs looks like:

Now I just need to get a few final adjustments done, including a realignment and resetting of the ride height so I can get these installed and get those graduation pics taken.
    Later,
    Chris

It's SEM vinyl dye - parchment, so it looks weathered right out of the can. Since it's a dye, it won't crack like paint does on sidewalls.

Different can, but mine is a bit older and was specifically bought to match the parchment interior of my wife's '67 Camaro. I think I bought it from National Parts Depot or Year One. It was sitting around for a few years and someone recently mentioned that dye would be a better choice over paint, so I just used what I had on-hand.

Thanks Chris. Think I will give it a go. I have Goodyear Eagle billboards and will try spraying through a homemade temple.

I have DXF file for the Billboards if anyone is interested.

The only part I'm not going to like is looking at storefront windows to see how cool I am, only to see "NOVA" on my tires... sigh...

    Chris,

Looks great ... And sure is a less expensive option than the rubber versions applied with glue.
