Headroom, Body Work Costs, ReSale Value and Demographic

A few more questions as I draw closer to getting this kit:

    1. How comfortable is this car for a 6.5' tall person, with a fairly slender build (let's say
38 inch waist line, medium build upper body? Is there enough headroom and legroom in
    both the driver/passenger side?

    2. What did you pay /or value the body work for the Gen 1, or Gen 2 (please specify)?

    3. Have you tried to sell your GTM? Was it difficult? Is there a big market interest for
    this car once built?

    4. Is there any sort of "Luxury tax" or kit car tax when selling via the Ministry of Transportation?

    5. Is it difficult to find a mechanic to certify the vehicle?

    6. What venues are best to buy / sell the GTM besides this forum? Exotic Car trader,
    Autotrader, etc.?

Thanks so much for the help,
    Tino

I know new builders want all the info they can get, but in my humble opinion, the only questions you should be really worrying about are #1 and #2. The other ones are largely irrelavent if you are going to successfully build a GTM. That said, 6' 5" may be a "tall order". I'm 6' 3" and find the interior of the GTM "tight". Really depends upon how you build it as I have sat in a GTM that there is NO WAY I could drive, and I have sat in a GTM that was "comfortable" as long as I ignored the very minimal space between my head and the roof/cage. Unfortunately the low roofline doesn't work well with us taller people, for the most part.

Gen II body is said to be much easier to fit and finish. Richard Migliori has estimated that prep time has gone from dozens of hours to a few hours, once everything is fitted. He did it on a race car though, so not exactly a "perfect" paint job. Follow Shane's new build of a Gen II and se what he has to say. He does excellent work.

At 6'5", NO WAY you should buy a kit without sitting in one. And Crash is right, the seats used in the build make ALL the difference. A 6'7" buddy of mine sat on the floorpan of my unbuilt GTM (i.e. he sat in it without seats)...he fit without seats, but it was snug. Just like Crash said, I have also sat in 2 GTMs. One felt great, the other was an absolute no-go. Same car, different seats. I'm 6'3", 175 lbs, 32 waist.

Thanks for the replies and poll selections thus far. I'll try to get in touch with Shane for more info ("The Stig", or "VRaptor Speedworks" I'm guessing).

If anyone else can post their experience with body work and painting expenses/worth, I'd appreciate it. This is one area that
I'm not going to mess with and will need to be considered when budgeting this project.

    Thank you!
