Should be pretty easy to see.... anything that is connected to it that then connects to the body. Fuel lines, accelerator cable (if you have one), transmission hydraulic line, a few of the vacuum lines that connect to the body, coolant hoses, etc.
What about inner cooler, Aux air pump. (2007 WRX)
You'll probably need to pull the intercooler to more easily access the 3rd motor mount (pitch stop) as well as the clutch hydraulic line on the firewall. Air pump - I would think just the lines need to be disconnected, but not certain. Hindsight is right - just keep disconnecting (and labeling) things until you can see clear path all the way around the motor and then remove slowly to watch for anything catching.
It's easier with the intercooler pulled, and I think it's also easier to have it off when you install the motor in the 818 as well. (It's been a year for me, so it's hard to recall precisely.)
I also disconnected the transmission to make removal easier, then dropped the tranny from below onto a tranny jack. I think other people have pulled engine and tranny as a unit, but most of us have had to remove the tranny to change the clutch and such anyway.
I pulled the the radiator first and put cardboard in front of the condenser to protect it. I disconnected the compressor from the block as well so that I didn't have to clear the air conditioning line as well as the power steering pump. When I pulled my engine I also removed the stater motor first which I think is necessary to even pull the engine. I thine only electrical connections you need to remove are two connthat come from underneath the intake manifold to the transmission and the wire(s??) that go to the alternator.
Disclaimer: This was from a Legacy not an Impreza, but should be almost identical + what everyone else has been saying.
