    Dual side audi intercoolers?

    So I have been going all over the place with what to do about intercooling. I have almost decided I want to stay air to air.

    With that, I am thinking about rotating my intake manifold and running the turbo outlet to a 90 elbow up and do a Y to separate out to both sides. I haven't decided if I can fit the intercooler directly behind the vents or if I should run ducting over the wheel well and use all the space behind the wheel well.

    I am hoping someone comes up with some nice side rear bumper vents like a Porsche turbo. I feel that would extract a lot more air than the opening on the back of the car that nobody has proven air to flow out of yet.

    Do you think two of the audi 2.0t intercoolers would work? Does anyone have a better intercooler to split the turbo outlet to?

    Hard to tell to be honest you may have slight more lag from all the piping. One thing I have not seen yet and might do after I have a running car is simply just add fans to the intercooler and maybe extend the intercooler back a little. Air to water is cool and all but some tracks don't like them and it's more that can go wrong. Some nice spal puller fans I feel will help a lot.

    I would like to move the turbo further back as well some day so I can have a nice intake that's not soaking in heat from the block....

    Tried that with an aftermarket intercooler (AMR). Didn't work.

    Yeah, the rear motor area gets crazy hot. I'm thinking if you utilize the side vents you can possibly have a better outcome. Once I get my motor working correctly, I plan on going from AWIC to A2A.

    Sorry that I'm so slow but I should have some data soon with my side mount AAIC. I'll spring on some extra thermocouples to get some good data. I think we all need to get creative ducting the air through the front and rear of the body. Between the low open percentage of the FFR mesh, the 1/2 wide aluminum "trim" and virtually no airflow control in the body building the base kit as per the manual is asking for trouble.

    I'm not looking for all out power numbers so my engine won't be stressed much at an expected 240 WHP

    Were your fans blowing up or down?
    I do believe the fans you have are reversible, By flopping the blades and flopping the wires.

    I tried both. I even went as far as removing the mesh covering that vent.

    Used Porsche 996 Turbo intercoolers are pretty cheap on Ebay, but I prefer and all aluminum design.

    I believe high HP 996+ often use upwards of 6" thick intercoolers, and right next to the turbo. There has to be a way to get similar results with side scoops and proper ducting.

    There shouldn't be much lag. If you switch a wrx from top mount to front mount, I have not seen significant lag increase. That is similar addition of piping.
