We use the Accel Ceramic Boot wires. You will never have an issue again.

Summit sells them for about $100.

http://www.jegs.com/i/Granatelli/467...ductId=1224570 - Seen these and thought that they would be a good plug wire, I never did try them.
I had just a regular sleeve or boot over mine and they were fine. I also had on that touched the header, put the boot on and was fine.

On a conventional SBC with Vortec heads and headers, I fought burned boots for years then switched to ceramics. Like Crash says, no more problems.

I have purchased ceramic boot covers (available in many colors) and this solved the problem.

I have the same issue. I purchased a set of Granatelli Ultra high temp wires and installed them today. When pulling the old ones, two were cooked and fell apart. The new ones were a bit pricy at $209 but they are very nice quality. We will see how they last.

I am planning to wrap the headers this winter to try to cut down on some of the direct radiating heat which will also help protect the wires. I already wrapped the exhaust from the collectors back to the mufflers and it made a huge difference in underhood temps and my shifter cables no longer get stiff at road speed.
