    Question Engine question

    The car: MKIII roadster.
I have a fresh 1993 302 HO that has a stock bottom end with all OEM parts.
I am doing a mild upgrade with this top end of this engine and have acquired a '93 Cobra intake, a set of AFR 1402 heads and Ford Racing 1.72 roller rockers.
My question is regarding a good cam selection with the 1.72's.
I really would like something that has a nice rumble, yet still operate O.K. with power brakes.
My car has the Tremec 5-spd and I am running 3.73's out back.
I already know there are better flowing intakes than the Cobra unit, but I really want this on the motor.
This car sees limited use here in the Seattle area, and a mix of highway and in town driving.
I would love to hear any input from others here on the forum on suggestions.
    Thanks for reading my post!

    James

I have almost that exact setup except running a trick flow stage 1 cam. It idles wonderfully choppy at 900 rpm, sounds like a screaming demon at anything more than half throttle. Not to brag, but wide open probably best sounding mild 302 I've ever heard.

I'm running no power in the FFR but that setup still worked great for my power brakes in the foxc body it came out of. Should still work like a charm for you.

Fwiw, tuning using Moates quarter horse, I made 310 whp in my 91 stang. Dropped it as is in the FFR. it's enough to be a blast and sounds great doing it.

In choosing a cam with stock pistons and 1.72 rockers anything with over .500 lift with risk valve to piston contact.
