Michael's and Bob's Second 818 build (red frame)

Michael's and Bob's Second 818 build (red frame)
Today, Michael and I started the build of our second 818s.
We learned a lot on our first build, so hope
to make even better improvement on this car.

This are some pictures of our first day on the car:

    P1050727c.jpg P1050734c.jpg P1050740c.jpg

No labeling parts or connectors this time.
The first car was Michael's , This on is mine.
We expect the build time to be 1/4 the first car.

Every time I complete a section of the car, the little voice in my head keeps saying this is going to so much easier the next time. Looking forward to seeing this one come together.

I feel the same way though. My obsession to try to make everything perfect is dragging this project along very, very slowly. This June, I will have hit the two year mark and I have yet to go-kart. I think I'm pretty close though.

Bob, looking forward to watching this second build!

Michaels is the running blue frame 818S.
This will be mine. Red frame 818S.
Mostly the same. His donor is an o4 FXT, This one is an 05 FXT.
One or both will probably be converted to an 818R some day.

Red frame, how about the body color on this one? I mean final color, not the gel coat which is certainly red.

    Build Day 4

No actual work got done on the 818 today. But we did pick up the chassis from the powder coater.
I do highly recommend "Tri State Fab" for anyone near Cincinnati. The have done and excellent job on both my 818s.

Looks like a salmon color on the pix (camera always changes a little), but it looks great! Certainly stands out from black.

    Build Day 5

Didn't work hard today as the garage was 25f.
Just spent 2 hours removing the rest of the dash wiring harness. Goes a lot faster when you don't label anything.

Those bikes are awesome! I miss Andrew's old Brammo Empulse. The electric ones are so much more interesting to me than gas bikes.
