    Gas tank gasket leak

No matter how I try, I can't get the gasket that seals the opening where the fuel level float is mounted to seat properly. The tank weeps gas perpetually.

Has anyone used a different gasket, o-ring or other method to seal it?

I'm not happy having puddles of gas back there, and it would be nice to be able to actually fill the tank all the way.

Many have fixed this with an O ring or silicone type of sealer that is fuel safe.

I found that cleaning the tank groove back to bare metal and then using a fuel compatible (NBR or Buna-N N90 ) O ring 2 3/8 in ID, 2 5/8 in OD and 1/8 in cross section. The store had minimum spend of $10 and that bought 28 O rings

Buna-N N90 O ring (model B90229) 2 3/8 in ID, 2 5/8 in OD and 1/8 in cross section gives a perfect seal without RTV. $0.13 ea with a minimum quantity of 4 and $8.00 priority mail shipping from the O-Ring Store

Minimum quantity at Fastenal is 100 (@$0.43 each!), DOH! So I got 100, but no shipping and the store is 10mins away, that's worth money to me being in Canada.
