Bell Crank Group Buy, Zero Decibel Motorsports

Group buy for a transmission mounted bell crank shifter. Shifter is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum with a double sealed ball bearing for smooth crank motion.

Even if you already expressed interest in the feeler thread, please reiterate your direct interest in this group buy thread. If you wish to be included but only after a certain number of buyers are in, please indicate as such (for example, you'd like to be in, but only if we reach the 10 participant price level).

    Thanks!

    Works with:
    Subaru 5 Speed transmission
    Plastic FFR shifter
    Metal FFR shifter
    MR2 Shifter

    Not compatible with:
    6 Speed transmission
    VCP Shifter

    What it does:
Allows you to reduce the number of bends in the shifter for smoother and more direct feel
When used with an MR2 shifter the cable length can be reduced 7 feet (shorter length cables not supplied as part of kit)
The arm mounted to the input shaft is mounted further inboard for improved clearance with the rear bumper (almost 1" of the shaft would actually be cut off if desired)
Looks pretty fancy. In an open rear bumper setup it is visible from the outside.

    # of people: Cost
    5: $365
    10: $280
    15: $255
    20: $250

    What you get:
    Base plate
    Cable mounting plate
Bell crank with pressed in bearing
Selector arm (mounts to transmission input shaft)
    Red anodized aluminum rod ends
    Aluminum connecting rods
    Aluminum Spacer for base plate
    Stainless spacer for bearing
    Stainless Hardware and nuts

50% deposit due when group buy closes

A few cell phone shots showing the assembly, an exploded view, and installed on an 818.

    Assembly:

Exploded view. Hopefully this image shows how much work and how many pieces are put together to make this setup:

Nice work Craig, I wish this was available a year ago when I went through this exercise. At the 10-15 QTY prices, this is a real steal.

Please count me in. Any chance it could be made and delivered to FFR in the next three weeks? Hahaha

I would be interested in one for later in the year, along with other parts. I should be picking up my 818 C in March. Nice job!

I'm in @10, but since my build thread is up to date and probably 3 pages back, I have no problem waiting to get 15 people.

This is beautiful, Craig. One of the best designed pieces I've ever seen. I'm not in for one yet because I'm trying to make my own(out of 6061), but if it fails I'll be in of course

Unlikely as it'll take 2-3 weeks to machine the parts. International flat rate box shipping for a small box is only $30. I've gotten parts to Canada, Sweden, Finland, and South Africa, to name a few.

I'll price out shipping not in a flat rate box too, but the flat rate box at least puts a cap on your shipping cost.

Up to 9. One more for the 10 pricing. 6 more for the 15 pricing.

Great to see we are at the 10 price. Keen for the 15 group buy price! Mechie. How soon could you get the shifter to FFR? I could hold my delivery a bit to make it happen. I'm not in a rush.

I was thinking of leaving the group buy open another week to see if we hit the 15 level. Probably 2-3 weeks total the parts after that.

I think that will work. Can't wait to use this part. Looks so nice compared to the stock idea.

can you get the dimension from the side of the transmission to the furthest point out? I have my battery in the same spot as you, but it is standing up. Just curious if I'm going to have to move it.

    I'm in at 15.

I'll have to measure real parts to confirm but the model shows the head of the shoulder bolt being ~ 1.9" off the side of the transmission. The cable mounting plate is about 2.5" off the transmission.

Looking like this will be a very popular kit and for good reason. Should go a long way to making for smoother shifting 818. I think it is critically important for your enjoyment of a vehicle to have any and all controls you interact with constantly feeling crisp and responsive.

I plan to close this out end of business Monday and get parts on order. 50% deposit will be due that week. Another $5 will be taken off if we hit 20 people. The margin on these parts isn't very good so when I order extra parts for general inventory and listed on the website the regular price will be higher just because the amount of risk this represents as stale inventory is much higher than any of my other parts.

Syracuse, NY? I grew up in Rochester then lived in Syracuse for 2.5 years before coming to Indianapolis. Still visit about once a year. You should hook up with the guys at cnysubies.com. I can't remember if I've said that before, I forget with so many people on the forum.

Sure is. The beauty of the group buys are that people that want one before I place an order are guaranteed to get one. I always get a handful extra but after the extras are gone I need enough people to justify another order.
