    Depowering rack

Do y'all have a trick to get the steering rack taken apart? I am trying to take apart the rack to cut off the seal. I am stuck trying to get this threaded disk with 4 pin holes out. I have been trying making custom tools, but they are not strong enough and keep bending.

Perhaps a spanner wrench will do it?

Spanner wrench is what you need. You can buy one, or you can make an adjustable one like this: http://cdn.instructables.com/F6C/6B1...DKE2.LARGE.jpg

Or you can put a small little drift in one of the slots and tap at it with a hammer.

I used a piece of scrap 1/2 thick aluminum and a couple of roll pins from the hardware store. Remember you only need to remove the rubber seal from the piston, you don't need to hack off the piston. Many people are satisfied with looping the lines.
