    SOVREN - Allen Grant

SOVREN Racing second race "Festival of Speed" the season is in Spokane WA, the theme will be FORD. As part of this they will be featuring Cobras as the main FORD car, Allen Grant will be at the event with his car.

The event will take place on June 4/5 with test and tune June 3rd. There is a possibility to get the track on June 2nd if we have enough cars that want to do track day (I don't know what the final costs would be but figure $3500 for track + ambulance service).

We are looking to see how many challenge cars or race prepared cobras we can get to attend and race. So looking for race cobras in Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, etc.

If interested please contact me [email protected]

SOVREN is also interested in having street cobras show up at the race, there is a car show in downtown Spokane where all the race cars drive down to the river/falls park area. This is a really nice event. So if you are looking for a fun weekend in Spokane come on over.

Thanks for posting this Tony, and for connecting the Spokane Festival of Speed folks with the Challenge Series guys.

I spoke to Jim Sullivan, one of the key event organizers this morning, and I can tell from his enthusiasm that they are truly looking forward to having our Challenge Series roadsters join the other vintage racers at this event. They will also welcome any and all Coupes (Challenge Coupes (aka) race prepared cars) who want to participate.

I believe we have reached a real turning point for the Challenge Series cars. The Series already has a great history of its own, but additionally, we are now finding an increasing number of vintage racing organizations welcoming our cars onto the grid at vintage meets. For those of us who have competed in the Challenge Series cars over the years, this is a HUGE development for us as a group. It is my greatest hope that some of our Challenge Series competitors will consider participating in this event. I've cleared my calendar, and will be adding the Spokane Festival of Speed to my adventures this year.

Thanks again, Tony! Looking forward to seeing you this summer! Let's do this!

Karen thanks for taking on the working with the SOVREN folks to get as many Challenge Cars and Coupes out to Spokane as possible and I really glad you will be on the track. I agree this is a turning point, I have been working with the vintage organizations in the NW since I got here. So both Steve Powell and I ran with SOVREN last year, what a great bunch of BIG BORE folks and cars. They have about 6-8 GT350 Rs and a few Falcons and at least 2 CX Cobras and our challenge cars are in the top of the pack, the big block vettes eat us alive.

The Festival of Speed is a fun event, there is a car show on Friday night after the test and tune, all the cars are escorted downtown and a fun show in the park and then 2 days of racing.

The track is fun, a little rough so bring some strong shocks. The weather should be perfect as it sould be in the 80's.
