    Hemi engine porn

My 3G 7 litre Hemi has some old skool valve covers and early style breathers going on it.

Nice! The word porn got my attention, but, the valve covers and 6 pack kept my interest. A little max wedge orange and your set

I was thinking about a nod to all the different size Hemi's but there have been 18 c.i. sizes to date and that's a bit too much to mention in the small space I had in mind
so I will just pick a few and see how it looks.

Either you have a hella memory or you went to Allpar.Com like I did a few years ago when I heard a CI mentioned that I couldn't recall hearing of before.
FWIW a lot of those were before my time. Have you seen the Chrysler concept car named after the Firepower engine, if not go take a look.

I have seen people referring to the VVT and Hellcat as Gen 4. I tend to toss out the 2 crates and the Donovan because I was
sticking to Hemi's used in production vehicles, I like the others too I just don't have the scratch to buy them.
I have ordered a couple show tops for my 6 pack, one Gloss Black PC for engraving, and one clear Lexan for showing off the 6 pack at shows.

I was going by memory and missed the 6.1L. I am getting interested in the Kaase kit since I do have a couple big block fords nearby. I should have some hemi porn photos this week end. The Desoto has been a challenge. No cook book for this one. I looked at the Indy aluminum low deck for 2 projects so far and can't justify the coin. Also looking at the A4 and genIII aluminum blocks. If the genIII price comes down on the aluminum block I'll consider one if I don't fall over a V10 first. Lots of buzz about V10 hemi heads lately. Buzz about new 392 blocks. So many motors, too many chassis, not enough time...

Hella good memory doing all that without a refresher on the old skool Hemis
The 6.1 has already gone out of production, so everything now is a 5.7 derivative. The newer 5.7, 6.2 and 6.4 are all on the 5.7 block design. They did add the piston oilers from the 6.1 family to all of those engines and come up with better heads and intakes than the early 3G 5.7's so they did adopt some of the advantages of the 6.1 components.

The Hellcat is still a 5.7 derivative but they really made a lot of improvements on that shortblock so IF you get the urge to go new Hemi get one of those even if you aren't going to boost it.

Found a nice work bench at Harbor Fake this weekend. It goes up and down with a foot peddle and is long enough to build the engine and tranny on together with out bending over a lot.
Not sure what the funny thing at the end is for??

Of course thats a naked Desoto block setting on it.

The motor cycle lift is making an excellent work bench.

Working on a windage tray position using 340 studs and 340 tray. Amazing how much tooling carried over to the 318 from the 50's Hemi.

This one may be a little overexposed...

    IMG_20160917_162321_325 (640x361).jpg

That's as much hemi porn as the FCC allows in one shot. Hidden in the pic is 2 354 Chryslers, a 241 red ram, and a Windsor 331 poly.

Sure does make me think about a slant 4 Hemi in that shot. Maybe I can get a Desoto head on a jeep 2.5L? with a turbo...

I went to ElMirage a couple years ago and saw a "half a Hemi" being used in a converted rail dragster. In dry lake racing it's sometimes all about how few cubes you use to push a
specific class of vehicle to the best top speed. SO; They had just blanked off one side of the block and the intake and changed up the tires for dry lake racing and let er rip.

I did just get the old style valve covers polished and painted now I need to assemble the coil on plugs I hope to have the rest of the eye candy on mine soon so I can post a few more pics.

Land speed and junior fuel is about the only place the little Desoto had any recognition. I guess I should look up some history and maybe figure out a custom license plate. The A4 block is essentially half a 340 with P5 heads. Maybe you could just run a 5.7 with the mds locked on 4 cylinders in one class, 6 in another, and finish with the whole motor. You could run 3 times as much and just validate the programming for each run!
