    Fuel tank fitting??

Trying to get the fuel tank in. If I clamp the back side to drill the homes, the front tabs are about 1/4 inch from being flush on the floor. Like wise, if I clamp the floor the back is away from the frame.
Just sitting there both the back and bottom tabs are about 3/16 from where they are suppose to land.
Has anyone used spacers or a rubber pad under the tank to get it to fit properly?
I did have to trim the bottom tabs to get it to drop in properly.
    Thanks
    Roy

On the old style tank the tabs were pretty thin... was able to bend the front ones into place to get a good fit after attaching the back tabs.

On mine the floor was pretty warped. When I installed the (stronger) Boyd tank I had custom made it pulled the floor flat and then my firewall holes no longer lined up.

The floor of the tank area will pull upwards when you start bolting it together. Bolt the upper tabs to the crossmember and then drill and bolt the bottom tabs.

FWIW, the new style tank has no tabs.
