outside door handle option - Fiat Barchetta

Someone else used these first on their 818, but I couldnt find their post again, so I decided I'd add another post. These are Fiat Barchetta outside door handles, and I thought they were kind of nifty. A little pricey, but pretty unique as far as door handles go! I'm looking forward to installing them. Do a google search, you'll see plenty of images. Jalopnik liked them! They remind me of the flush canopy pulls seen on some aircraft.

I installed the Fiat Barchetta door handles and I agree that they are clever and look great. However, the back end of the mechanism - the part that actuates the latch - broke off. I had drilled the original hole a little bigger, to 3/16", so maybe that weakened it. It took me about 90 minutes to make a replacement piece using a hack saw, hand files and a drill. I still love these handles but just in case you have them I want you to know about this.

No, not awesome. Imagine with a band saw that this could be much easier and quicker but I don't have the space.

Thanks for the heads up. I do have these handles and will be aware of this potential pitfall!
