Your solution of Front Tow Hook

Since it's almost impossible to tow the 818 from the front especially with a splitter, I need to install a tow hook.

There are lots and lots and lots of them on ebay. Either straps or hooks. The only problem is they have a 15-16mm bolt and that's just too big for our front nose radiator frame tube!

I have the new nose. If I weld a metal piece on the rad frame in the middle of the rad opening, it will required to cut a half moon in the nose insert cuz the fiberglass goes a bit over the tube.
If I weld it under the tube, it will cause problem to remove the floor aluminum.
I could bolt a tab underneath the rad tube in the middle, using a smaller bolt, then unbolt the tab to remove the floor. Could possibly work well.

What did you guys chose as a solution?

Frank, I've been studying the situation too. I can't really imagine pulling on anything forward of the front suspension points. The rear does ave some promise tho. Pull it backwards if it comes down to that.

I created one my making a bar/rod that extends above splitter - below radiator, back to main chassis frame in front of battery. I then added a hook to the outside of front fibreglass. I also added a similar one to rear (although) much shorter - also above rear diffuser and this connects to centre of rear chassis frame - trans/rear mount area. Both these are more than strong enough to pull an 818 from the gravel traps - thankfully I haven't needed to test this yet - touch wood!

Not exactly the same, but this may inspire a solution. Had the same issue on the cobra and fabricated a mount from DOM and a nut, then used a Miata hook available at any salvage yard for almost nothing.

I plan on attaching a tow ring to the roll cage. Like the way Davidson Racing did on their Eagle. It's sticking up through the roof.

I was thinking something similar out of the hood near the windshield.

I was actually considering this method as well. It is what FFR has for the Challenge Series cars.

A lot more solutions than I thought. It's inspiring.

For those that would pull the car from the rear, if on a tow truck like that wouldn't the wind hit inside the windshield and swirl around in the cockpit and pushing down on the dash? Just asking, that's the reason why I prefer a front hook but if airflow backwards on the windshield isn't an issue then I guess it's easier to have the hook at the rear.

Not convinced yet on making a hole in my hood.

A rear hook would be helpful at the track when you run out of talent.

I installed a both a front hook and rear hook. The front was a super large hook i bolted through the frame (not the radiator section) and can easily hook a ratchet strap to it and use it when strapping the car down in the trailer. The rear is bolted through the frame and is a European style thread in hook like on BMW or Audi and just flops around. I think the rear one adds some style to car and can see it in my thread. Here is the pick of the front one . It was taken with my phone and tried to capture it as best i could. I use both every time load the car in the trailer and works well.

Yeah that's a place I can't do it. I've got the front race splitter, quite longer, so I blocked off the lower opening on the nose insert.
