    Dash Concept drawings

A couple drawings to see how things might look.

The left hand side will have a slight kick out to face the driver, nothing severe.

Anyone have any suggestions for 'period' looking AC vents? The vintage air ones are not bad, but I want to look at options.

    A more artsy-fartsy rendering.

Starting to look at materials this week, so many woods to choose from, as well as leather and possibly an alcantara headliner. The gauges are from Classic Instruments, and I'm still going back and forth on possible vents from Vintage Air (5spoke, 3spoke, other) The modeling is inspired by the 1967 Toyota 2000GT....roughly.

Here's a shot from the original car.

    Hope it helps.

The original was built for racing and the interior was slapped together quick for a singular purpose. The interior that I want in our car is more of a production feel - something, while not true to the original, has a 60's feel as if the car went to a production line - where attention to detail and higher comfort levels are taken into consideration.

I get it might not be what the purists want......but it's not their car :-)

Very nice! What are you facing the dash with out of interest? Leather? Bare metal? Alcantara?

Thin foam with vinyl for most parts. Then red 3M carbon fiber film on the gauge pod and center piece.

Channeling my inner Nick Offerman, visited the local wood specialty shop to look at veneer options for our 60s dash recreation.
Pretty sure I'm going with option 1, the burled walnut. The finish will be a super hard epoxy coat, should be tough as nails and will inhibit UV.

Gauges are on the way from Classic Instruments, V8 Speedsters.

Man that's awesome! I gotta find some wormy maple now. I used to have some wavy butternut veneer that looked really cool. I have some walnut and butternut trim in the house. The lighter butternut breaks up the dark walnut. Have to sneak into the neighbors wood shop now. Looks great.

One thing I wished I would have done was angle the ends of the dash like the originals. My thinking is kind of like yours make it more productionlike but still period "correct".

    Jonas,

Like those gauges a lot. The veneer will look pretty sharp in the coupe. Will have to keep us updated with pic's !

Mock up for the dash switch gear. I think our choice of wood turned out well - burled walnut.

This is going to be fantastic. I really like your theory of more production looking but period correct. I can't wait for more pics.
