So, with my intercoolers taking up the spot where I am sure the AC/Heat unit is supposed to go.... more out side the "box" thinking was required.

While Wayne was up here last we kicked around a lot of ideas...this one made the most sense....

I will run the ducting back up into the back of the cabin. The defrost ducts will merge together and go through the tunnel up into the dash and split in two....

I have to make a custom fan box to rotate the blower so it draws air from the trunk... but I will do that with the body off.

The stock driveshaft has a slip joint between the tranny and the first universal hanger bearing that is fixed to the chassis.... That is the section that I was copying or adapting... this allows the engine and tranny to move freely since I don't have a slip joint on the tranny end. It's hard mounted on each end.... hard to see in the picture.... here you can see the 3 bolt flange that I had to attached the universal to with another adapter that converted the 3 bolt flange to a 4 bolt plate that the universal is bolted to....

Initial Drive down the street to validate "go-cart" status... rough alignment is in, brakes seem ok, windshield and hatch fit... couldn't hammer down, no belts and no tune... so more to follow...

Those pipes are the best! I wasn't sure if anyone would ever create a really good looking set for that car. They don't sound bad either.

THey are not spintech mufflers... the design of the exhaust is pretty nice sounding but they are a little loud for me and a little surprising given the turbos...Wayne and I are going to try some things on the dyno to see if we can quiet them down some.... right now the 2.5 in pipe feeds into a 3 inch transition which dumps into the oval pipe which is about 6 inch... I think it's acting like a megaphone .... so we will see... sounds awesome though.

Quick update.... body is at paint... still have work left to do on the dyno so that will finish up later.. initial setup has the tune in it for larger injectors now...

mean while back home... started finishing up the wiring to include the shifter which will allow me to start the interior...

here is the video thus far of the Blackhawk Helicopter cyclic grip working all the functions.... still have to wire up the turn signals and hazards... those are next on the list... rather than go through a detailed list of what I did.... here is the video..

If you ever sell this car you'll need to provide a video on operation

    Erik-

Love the use of the cyclic!! I am doing something similar for my F-18 inspired build. I think it adds a lot of style!

Great progress, and as usual, plenty fast build! It's looking great.

    Regards,

    Steve

a few more, small/big steps.... wiring is J_U_S_T about done... finished up the cyclic wiring...done... I have made the stick connection quick release incase I need to pull the tranny and such... one click and the stick is disconnected from the car. I also made a boot and recycled a shifter ring... I then moved to the AC unit since the body is off at paint... I think/hope this should work good....I also started putting in insulation/sound deadening...... I had to reposition my driver's side wastegate to make room for my cold air intake.... I had a 3inch piece of silicon that transitioned to 2 inch and it choked the crap out of the turbo...so now I have 3 inch all the way.... but had to do some welding...again...anyway... enough of that.... these are small pieces down but they were keeping from some major progress.... so here ya go...

Erik, You've got a fascinating build underway. I'm growing to like your large single side pipes and would appreciate knowing what the basic dimensions are of the "rectangular-oval" pipe (width & height). What do you have in the way of muffler inside the side pipe? It looks like there is one large central "muffler" section with smaller sized entry and exit tip pipes, but in your discussions you don't mention if there is one.

Bob. The mufflers are 30 inch 6 3/4 oval with VERY little sound proofing in them... they actually are very loud... we put some vee diverter metal pieces in them to beat down the sound.... they do sound awesome
