So, since I had to make my own shifter, I lost the stock reverse lock out device since my Cyclic stick doesn't have that feature ---- But there is hope....this should work I am thinking....

closing down on finishing up the turbo system up and putting more fluids in - like brake fluid.... course in true "erik" fashion...if it has fluid - it will leak.... my brand new line lock is leaking from the housing! - so that is a miss... good news is, it looks like my 2015 hydraulic clutch works pretty good.

    Anyway.... looking pretty mean....

Looking at your build, I can see improvement in every car you have done and it just keeps getting better on each build. You have always had speed in your builds, you built the mk1 roadster in 30 days in a carport in winter in KY(Who does that). But what I want to compliment you on is execution. The fit, finish and concept are in the Pro Category. There was a time when I thought I could teach you, Now I think you could teach me (a bunch). Keep up the good work.

    Erik,

It's obvious yo are slicing through this like a hot knife through butter, but does this mean the door fit has actually improved on the gen 3?

    Thanks,

So I can't comment on the Gen 2 or 1... for the most part the Doors went in "easy".... since I am a beta - I did have some challenges that others will not have...I pushed through - getting the gaps down was pretty easy... the nose fit is really good... the issue I ran into is that I used the pre-drilled holes to do the door fit, THEN> did the nose.....DO NOT DO WHAT I DID.

instead....put the body on the chassis.... do not secure it at this time.... Completely install the nose without the spacers and leave the forward aft nuts loose (this will allow the nose to slide left and right / forward and aft.

THe Body on the Beta Car will naturally favor the pass side....so what I had to do is push the body on the right side so the forward part of the door opening on the pass is as far FORWARD as possible. then you need to center the rear of the car (used the back glass opening) and measure off the frame to get square.

You will find you need to lift and push the body over to the drivers side some. Once the right side and the back are set, now start to look at the nose alignment left to right.... I ended up having to slide the left side of the body AFT about 1/2 to get the hood to line up to the body.... after that the fit is really good! in the pic I had just trimmed 2 passes on the hood gap and it was that close. The transition heights are really good along the sides and on the curve. I think this was an area that was an issue in the past... this was a non-event....the top part of cowl right now is higher than the hood, but that should get fixed once the rubber bumpers are installed.

After all that..... THEN DO THE DOORS....lol.... I have to go back and redo the hinges to line my gaps back but that should not be a big deal....

I hope to finish the hood fitment this weekend and finish cutting all the holes and latches and light holes... that should be the end of the major body fit and I start getting ready for the DYNO! I need to wash off the car since it is covered in fiberglass!!!! I am still itchy...lol... but I think this is time well spent.... make the body work and time at the painter much reduced.....I'm hoping!

    Duly noted! John!

All these gen 3 coupe threads I am taking notes on. Just patiently waiting, same old same old.
(secretly regrets buying a car because I can't afford to build a coupe now, but I enjoy the hell out of it, so money well spent? lol)

I really like the setup you got going Erik!
I was debating about throwing TT's at my design, haven't made up my mind on that just yet, well.... lots of things actually lol!
    Keep up the stellar work!

Erik, we've got chassis #9 in our shop, which they were told when we picked it up was "production" chassis #3. Are there things that you know were changed for production to avoid the challenges you described above that shouldn't be present in our car?

Like you, I am reading all I can and taking notes, planning to buy a coupe kit this year! I hope to see John George's coupe at VIR and maybe some others soon. Once the beta cars are done, the production cars are sorted, and the manual is out it will be time to place an order!

sooo...... a lot of stuff you can't really see.... but the body is now square on the chassis and some adjustments were made so everything is happy.... waiting on tires and side pipes....been trying to figure out where to put the AC.... I think Wayne and I have figured something out and we are gonna try it this week hopefully.....still have some clean up to do under the hood... but I am liking the layout... and servicing it shouldn't be too bad... all that is left is to plumb the heat exchangers, get a driveshaft made and through the BIG injectors in and we should be ready for the dyno....hopefully mid to late next month....and PAINT!!!!!

    anyway...

Beautiful work Chief. I spent most of today working aluminum. FFR has new radiator aluminum as well as behind the seats in the cockpit. I also put in the new longer driveshaft. Do you need any parts of the old one? they also sent me new hatch hinges.

Got an infusion of parts yesterday! so lot's of stuff getting put on the car.... my long awaited side pipes.... took all day to get the driver's side done...hopefully..pass side goes a lot quicker... getting two round pipes to fit into an oval pipe was a PIA....but it's done..a little grinding and should look mint! anyway... here ya go... also got my AIM gauge! super sweet. anyway...enough with me typing away..

    Erik-

That single oval side pipe looks terrific!

I have been following your build thread, and I remain very impressed with your work.

The Gen III Coupe is a very sexy car!!

So I am taking a few days off from work this week...

    lot's of stuff getting finished....

Unpacked the gauge pack... very cool

custom driveshaft - MT82 to IRS with slip joint and universals on both ends.

Intercooler hooked up and finalized the plumbing...then filled with water and got all the air out....runs good.

Heat exchanger / AC condenser / radiator

Homemade mounts... will get bolted in instead of screws...

Infusion of parts from Wayne at VeryCoolParts....with a VERY COOL intake!!

Why the drive shaft slip joint? Just happened to be easy due to parts on hand?
