    Erik,

Not sure I dig the red crinkle paint finish, and the wheel skirts!

Didn't know you where going to have a SEMA cliff hanger for us at the end of the build.
    Looking forward to the unveil.

The Black Mamba FIA was spectacular so I'm sure this car will take it to the next level and beyond.

Looking forward to seeing your car unveiled at SEMA.

I hope it goes well.... I think it looks pretty cool. It is definitely unique! It is smoking fast... I drove it 2 miles (cheated).... it does drive pretty nice though as well. Been doing all the detail work for the last couple days... and making sure I didn't miss anything...

Erik, I've been following your build thread, and have been anxiously waiting to see the finished product. The pictures that F5R posted at SEMA show that it has been worth the wait. The car looks fantastic! But then, after following your 289 build thread, I should have known... Spectacular build!

    Erik-

You know, you have been acting like that is a stealth coupe... You know that neither the car, nor the airframe on which it is modeled is stealth, right? C'mon man, let's see those pictures!! ;-o)

I love the pics I have seen that FFR has posted, and am really looking forward to seeing more of the car, inside and out! Like your other builds, this one is another awesome job!!

Have a good time at SEMA, and I look forward to seeing more of your Coupe soon!!

    Regards,

    Steve

Got back last night around mid-night.

I always look forward to SEMA, but I always seems to forget how much work it is and how fast the week blows by and how exhausted you are at the end of the week. Having said that ... I WOULD GO EVERY YEAR! The Factory Five booth did not disappoint - It was slammed full the entire week. All the cars had piles and piles of folks around them. The builds are getting more and more over the top... the blank sheet that Factory Five gives you can either go together as a stock build... or over the top .. like the Truck, GTM, All Steel Body (laser straight) Hotrod and the 818R.... those cars were really nice! The Truck has ALREADY got me thinking.....lol . I was proud once again to stand in the booth and talk about these cars!

Anyway... I held off posting completed pics (sorry) - so as a bonus I am providing some video. I have about 3 miles on the car currently... hopefully it will get back shortly and I will charge the AC and install the front splash guards (left off for the show) - and start driving it to work and maybe to the Drag Strip before they close for the season. Really excited to get this out on the road.

Special thanks to Dave Smith (for giving me the opportunity to be a BETA Builder and trusting me to deliver a build on time), Tony Zullo (dude you rock - thanks for the support and ensuring I got what I needed to get to the finish line) , and of course Wayne Presley (the logistical / endless parts support and the off the chain tune he put on the Coyote is second to none.... thanks Brother).

So here are some vids the day we loaded and some pics from the show (Credit : David Hodgkins)

    Erik-

The car looks amazing, truly amazing! Thank you for the extra pictures and the video. As always, you exceeded my expectations!

I love all the little details you included; it makes the car extra cool. Nicely done, and really nice touches throughout. I would love to see it in person!

Would you like to share some details about the two Warrant Officers you honored on the rear hatch?

    Again, just a terrific job!

    Regards,

    Steve

Thanks for sharing the videos and pictures of the completed build! Jaw dropping work! I like the details like "jettison" and "Caution hearing protection required", etc.

What paint did you use for it? Looks like a satin finish?
What digital dash? I don't remember it being mentioned in the build

Thanks.... the paint is matte *Spies* . actually the car was a HIGH gloss to a show car smoothness... then they sprayed the matte clear... long expensive process! But it was look I was going for. The gauge is an AIM Strada with street icons.

An unbelievable build. FFR is lucky to have someone of your talent around to help with the Beta process. Please post some video when you make it to the drag strip.

    Looks awesome.
I am assuming your ship number/tail number on the rear quarters has some significance to you. Any special story behind that one?

Thanks. Yes... Before I got out of the ARMY I was flying the UH60M which is a full "glass" cockpit.....After retirement I took a job in the gov't designing the new glass cockpit to replace the analog cockpit in the older UH60L's. The requirement was that we had to "replicate" the cockpit from the UH60M but update the "guts".... but it HAD to have the look and feel of the UH60M to reduce training.... so might say I built a "replica" M cockpit....ha... Anyway First Flight of the prototype vehicle was conducted in Jan of this year...and the Tail Number of that aircraft is 92-26242. On Army aircraft we do not display the year ... only the last 5 on the tail... so there ya go. Continuing that theme ... at the Flight School to easily identify the aircraft tail numbers , the school takes the last 2 numbers of that tail number and paints huge white numbers on the tail boom. The numbers are the last 2 numbers of the tail number... this way you can identify YOUR aircraft from a distance. Nothing more frustrating than walking all the way to the aircraft only to find out they parked on a different pad! And since they all look the same .... the white numbers help out!

    hope that helps

Car arrived back at the house this week.... got up early today and cleaned it all up .... I had some muffler inserts that I had not finished making before SEMA... the Mufflers were still kinda loud still... so this morning I added one section of the auger insert.. just one spiral not the all 3. Left the center open.... and WOW.... love the sound now and like 2/3's as quiet! or at least the "bark" is way way down... which translates into way quieter in the cabin going down the road.

I did about 15 miles this trip out to verify the exhaust and make sure I had all the rattles fixed (check!)... I also loaded up the new configuration on the AIM gauge so the Gear Indicator would function correctly (not fixed). I got a little more aggressive with the throttle this time out (50* outside this morning). Not sure what I was thinking... I guess too long with the Black Mamba....the car has no chance of hooking in boost... tried to hold the phone and do what was going to be a short blast.... ya .... that was a "C" in judgement... I need to understand how to apply power to this thing and where the limits are (autocross time) ... and I need to get my GoPro charged up! lesson learned... so here is me being "that guy".... the car does sound pretty good though

Also... Thought I would pass this one on about the fit in the seat.... so I am 155 (wet) and 5'6". I have the Kirkey High backs, with the correct installation brackets installed as high as I make the seat , on top of seat tracks.... I had to add a 1.5 inch gel cushion to the seat to see over the dash enough to feel comfortable... which then caused me to slide the seat forward another inch.... you tall , large guys should fit EASY!!! and LOW in the car!!!
