dash coming together. Wanted fuse panel easily accessible so mounted it on the dash. Will have to extend a bunch of wires because default location is above drivers feet. We wrapped the aluminum with carbon fiber vinyl to cut down on the reflection in the window

defrost vents are the only ones that will be connected to heater box, because racecar!

and it runs! idling away, started first try (well after we figured out the fuel pump was temporarily wired incorrectly)

    after its first drive

I'd never imagined a coupe with a rear wing. I can see that being a love/hate thing for a lot of people, but I think it could look great. Being that far behind the rear wheels I assume the down force will be quite significant?

Actually, the straight jacket may no longer be needed for the new Gen 3 Coupe build, lol.

I guess we will find out, but I'm curious if you will set the front windshield by yourself and/or use some sort of plastidip on the body.

I'm also interested in how the seats bolt-up: to what, need to fab something, etc?

I ordered a road-Coupe kit for early April delivery. The plan is 302-carb'd, TKO600, IRS, stock brakes, power-steering, low-buckets until I decide what seats to ultimately go with.

Progress after 10 total days of work on FFR#48 Gen 3 type65 Coupe R build. Starting to look like a racecar!

Another fun packed weekend with the goal to finish wiring, fit body/doors, seat, window net, exhaust, hood hinge, and rear wing uprights. We got most of that list done.

New rear wing uprights look great

Modified gas pedal to shorten it up

Mark cutting out for hood louver install

Nose with all of the aero bits added (hood louvers, splitter, and cannards)

Wiring all done finally. Brendan and I stripped the chassis harness eliminating a bunch of un-needed junctions/unions. Mark worked on getting the roadster exhaust shoe-horned into the coupe, and will get that done next build weekend.

The car looks spectacular! We worked a lot on the hood hinge mechanism retrofitting a BMW E30 hood latch mechanism allowing the nose to pop up 3 inches then hinge open hopefully allowing splitter to clear the ground. Some great engineering done by Mark here. Chris Allen, fellow NASA racer and coupe owner, came by to check out the build and try out the seating position! some enduros may be in order with this beast.

That hood hinge mod is the coolest thing yet. I'd bet it will become one of those "standard" mods especially when that cool splitter is on there

The car is looking great. I see you got some spacers for the rear wheels. If nothing else, they sure make it look right. I am curious what springs you are using for the rear. Same as your roadster? I ask as reference for my 2015 IRS upgrade and the 17 autocross season.

Overall, the car looks great! I'd wondered what a separate spoiler would look like as well.

If you are willing to post the hood lift mod, I'm interested in it too.

Is it just an illusion or just me, but are the front wheel wells larger now than on the Gen 2? It looks a lot larger in the front than in the rear.

JC......Very cool that you are converting your coupe to a dedicated race car. As an FYI, we made two sets of jigs back in 2011 when we were developing the Competiton Coupes, before FFR was considering the R-chassis. I'm not sure who has them now, but we could put an all call out for them and get them over to you if you like. Good luck with your build!!
