    Barrett-Jackson 2017 Photos!

The 2017 Barrett-Jackson Auction is officially underway! The crowds are huge, the weather is mild, and our crew is very, very busy covering our show truck with display cars and also building a steel body '33 Hot Rod in the DIY area. Check out photos from Monday and Tuesday of this week.

The Factory Five crew is being helped out by a cadre of Factory Five customers.

We brought the all-new Type 65 Coupe and the half-mobile Mk4 Roadster.

There are tons of customer cars at this year’s Barrett-Jackson event, both in the auction and in our display.

This killer GTM is in the vehicle auction.

The Factory Five ’33 Special Edition Hot Rod Magazine car is also up for auction.

This beautiful silver Challenge Car is being auctioned.

The weather is fantastic (compared to Wareham, MA in January!). The Factory Five big rig is headquarters for our outdoor display with four cars and a good group of customers helping out.

he boys at BluePrint Engines provided us the engine for this really cool, running, driving half-mobile.

Above & Below: In the DIY area, we are building an all-steel body ’33 Hot Rod with a small block 306 ci. Ford engine, TKO transmission, and all-new 2015 Ford IRS.

The ’33 Hot Rod is being built from a bare frame all the way to the completed car over the 8 days of the Barrett-Jackson show.

We haven’t been to the Phoenix, AZ area for a while and it’s great meeting tons of new customers. People are amazed at the amount of space in the latest Mk4 Roadsters.

Factory Five customer Ron Everitt (above) helps customers with questions. Ron has built many Factory Fives and we brought his blue and white, Coyote-powered Mk4 to the show this year.

The Barrett-Jackson show goes from 10 am to midnight and the Factory Five crew is covering both the DIY area live build as well as the show & event trailer outside. Without the help of customers, this could not be done.

Former Factory Five Tech Specialist Vinny D. helps with the IRS install on the steel body Hot Rod (Vinny moved to Arizona, so we asked for his help during the show).

There are Factory Fives everywhere you look at the Barrett-Jackson show!

Next to the ’33 Hot Rod live build, Adams Polishes is detailed our flame Hot Rod.

The Barrett-Jackson goes through this Sunday, and there is something fun to do every day. The biggest auction cars will be hitting the block on Friday and Saturday, and we will be turning the key and firing up the all-steel body ’33 Hot Rod with Jeff Miller on Saturday.

    Hi Dave & Crew,

The display looks great! I'll tune to watch over the next several days to see how it goes. Keep the pics coming on the build.

Here's some more photos from Tuesday at the show.

The DIY area has been busy all day.

The Factory Five crew has been joined by customers to work on the ’33 Hot Rod build.

The weather is mild. This is predicted to be the slowest day of the show with crowds getting absolutely insane starting tomorrow, Friday, and the big day Saturday.

It started on the first try (of course!). The rumbling exhaust drew a crowd. Tony eased the 33 Hot Rod go-kart off the lift, onto the floor.
    Go kart 1.jpg

Ron cleared the crowd so Tony could drive out of the Barrett-Jackson DIY tent. A few days ago it was just a pile of lifeless parts.

Just got back from Barrett Jackson Westworld....our first time going. This event is even more than we imagined. My son and I rented a 2017 Camaro SS (6.2L 455hp) and enjoyed every minute driving around Scottsdale. The Barrett-Jackson’s event is so huge it made the Guinness World Record in 2014 for the world's largest tent at 351,210.33 square feet. Counting all the tents erected, Barrett-Jackson’s all-new auction facility is nearly 1 million square feet of everything automotive. Outdoors there is a gigantic carnival like mall of every type of food vendor you could imagine. They had the world's longest BBQ, Navajo tacos, Asian food, turkey legs, philly cheesesteaks, hamburgers, hot dogs, Mexican food, pizzas, you name it they sold it. Plenty of chairs and benches and areas to relax between the car viewing. The auction by itself is a tremendous experience, and we enjoyed watching them come across the block for hours, but the real fun is seeing all the high quality cars. Over 4,000 submitted for consideration and about 1,700 were on display to be auctioned. Only about 30-40 of the most expensive cars had reserves, everything else sells for what is bid.

They offered rides with a professional driver in a Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro or Dodge Hellcats with 707 horses (open exhaust!).
The new DIY Pavilion is where they are building the FFR 33 Hot Rod and a classic C10 by Ride Tech.
I have never seen such a large varied collection of brand new Cobra replicas in my life. Factory Five had the best ones there, of course, but there was Backdraft Racing, Superformance and Shelby American. I would estimate that the manufacturers had a total of 35 or more on display! While I didn't see any original Cobras on display this year for sale, there were maybe 10 or more replicas up for auction in the tents

Really enjoying following along with FFR's return to the Barrett Jackson's big show. I remember getting hooked on watching the action live nearly 10 years ago and it's still fun to tune in. Having the FFR team there giving us play-by-play is great, too!

    1. Where was the GTM? Not surprised I missed it, but very sad
    2. I agree, this place is RIDICULOUS. I'm gonna have to take some actual time off work next year.

Seemed to be quite a few good bargains to be had on the first few days, but prices began to creep upwards last night. Looking forward to the prime time stuff coming today and tomorrow, for sure!!!

Chris, you mentioned 10 years ago, the previous time FFR was here at Barrett-Jackson. It was then that I first saw FFR and 4 months later I ordered roadster #6228. I'm now adding finishing touches to 818C #25. Ten years of fun from the 2007 FFR booth.

This Factory Five GTM just sold at the auction for $66,000 (including all fees). Here are some details from the listing.....

"Gen2 GTM is fully optioned with 346c.i. 400hp LS and 6 speed. and wrapped in a polished copper finish with 3-D rivets and brushed, black stainless accents. This professionally built supercar took over 3,000 hours and over 30 months to complete, with the build completed in late 2014. The car only has 474 miles since completion. The professional builders of this GTM hand selected parts such as Porsche 964 G50/52-2 turbo transmission paired to a Brandwood cable shifter and a Porsche GT2RS clutch. Keyless Go, push-button start, Factory Five air conditioning and power windows allow for some comfort....."

Curious to know what color blue is on the half-mobile Mk4 Roadster... I like it!
