    My new GTM---with progress pictures

I picked up my second GTM a couple months ago. It still needs a few things done to complete the build. I am extremely excited, this one is set up with a brand new LS7. I need to spend some time on the interior and get it all installed correctly and set up. I also am going to scrap the grilles and go with the louvers from VRaptor front and rear.

The rear tail panel had a crack in it when I received the car....on closer inspection it looks to have had an attempted repair before being painted. I got the paint away from the area and repaired it from the back last weekend. Sanding through the rear of the panel was a bit of a pain with the body on, but after some time I was able to get it done. I repaired the area with 6 good layers of fiberglass matt. I think I went a bit thick.....but wanted to ensure it will never re-appear. The old repair was maybe 2 layers and only went an inch or so beyond the crack. Now I need to sand down the black painted area and fill it with a fiberglass filler and smooth it out.

After this.....I believe I am spraying the car in a custom Burnt Copper Alloy plasti dip for the time being. Some people may not love that idea.....but I am friends with multiple award winning dip jobs from around the country. It will be a gloss look that can be sanded and buffed. Next winter I plan to remove it and send it in to the body shop for a new paint job. I just dont want the expense now and want to enjoy the car.

That should be awesome with the LS7! Looks like it has a lot of potential! Where did they put the MAF?

I actually love the idea of dipping the car for a short term solution. I think thats a great application for that product! Nice find on the car and i really like the interior, I see it has the sub woofer in the passenger foot area, how is that? any details on the sound system and your thoughts on it would be appreciated.

I'm kinda curious about that myself. I'm still waiting to I'm half way built before i have the audio guys taking a look of what they can make for me with the room they have to work with.

HOLY CRAP?!? I have been traveling extensively for work the past 6 months and have really not gotten a chance to really sort through the interior. I never even noticed that....and now I am excited to all get out!!! Thanks for pointing that out to me!! LOL. My other GTM had a sub-par system in it that you could not hear over the exhaust hardly haha. I know I plan to replace the head unit with an Alpine unit....I am partial to them and their 4 volt preouts. I will be home a lot more now starting in 3 weeks and hope to dig into it more and get it finished up. I plan to finish filling the crack in the glass on Monday and sanding it smooth. As soon as that is done, I will be trying to get the dash and center console bolted up and finished next week. I need to see how he wired the stereo, the unit did not power on when I tried it and I suspect he hid a switch in the car for it. I will get better pictures of the woofer and check out the install with updates.

Also, this is what color I will be going with. I am using the pro line and spraying with an HVLP compressor set up, so it will have the feel of a vinyl wrap with the ability to wax and buff as well.
