Lava Shield - Heat Shield

I just saw this product highlighted on Truck-U and it looked pretty cool (no pun intended). Has anyone used Lava Shield in their cars?

Thanks -- I suppose I should start searching beyond the Roadster forum. Looks like the material was applied prior to riveting the panels together. It looks good, but I'm wondering if that might become an issue as the material ages over time?

I regularly search all the forums. There are so many great ideas that can transfer to my build that come from the other forums. Don't know what the expected life of lava shield is.

I used some of this for a heat shield on a cold air induction tube. It is under the hood, so it does not see any adverse conditions. The adhesive is just so-so. The surface must be very clean and very smooth.
The item comes folded and the wrinkles may or may not come out. It does look good enough to exposed to the eye for a good visual, less any wrinkles. It will not conform to complex curves or stretch. If the edge does not stick, you can put super glue under it. Be sure to follow safety advise and wear gloves and eye protection.
The particles from cutting are much worse than fiberglass and probably more damaging. I cut mine out on a wood board with an exacto knife.
I would not buy this for floor board heat shield on a roadster. The texture is like a mildly stiff, very thin canvass. It is probably best suited to protect a specific item, or small area.

I have an UTC exhaust with a big Magnaflow X muffler sitting right under radiator. I made a shield and put the Lava mat on side facing down to muffler, its been four yrs and 17k miles all good. I can touch the shield when car is hot.
