    New Member from Texas

My name is Roy and I am a MKIV addict. Been looking at this website for years and just couldn't justify a two seater car with no top or AC. Well the flash sale last weekend was the kick in the butt I needed to order the basic Roadster kit. Should be here in mid-March so I need to get ready for it with a chassis dolly and body buck. I will use a 2003 or 2004 GT as a donor and keep it simple and fun. I live in Corinth, north of Dallas so I hope to meet any local FFR guys here in the Metromess. I have a Tuxedo Black King Ranch pick-up so I am planning a Tuxedo Black King @#$%&. I will have the seats and dash redone in saddle leather to match what I have in my truck.

    Welcome!
There are a good number of FFR guys in DFW. The local TCC (Texas Cobra Club) guys meet up the first Saturday of each month at various places around town.
Keep us posted on your progress and hope to see you around.

Sounds like it will be a nice build.

Always great to welcome fellow Texans here (even if they are of the Red River area variety).

    Cheers!

Thanks guys for the warm welcome. I have enjoyed reading the builds and posts on this site so I will do my best to look up an answer prior to asking questions that have been answered already. I have painted many cars when I was younger and had access to a paint booth so I am very familiar with doing my own bodywork. I have built a few engines but they were of the bowtie variety and were in a Camaro drag race car. So the Blue Oval terminology is still new to me.

    Welcome to the fun!

You don't need a top or A/C. I have 11,000 miles on my Cobra, 98% of those in the Houston area. I've driven in temperatures from 34* F (waaay too cold for my tires!) to over 100* F.

You'll learn to check the weather before you drive so you don't get rained on. Speaking from experience, it's no big deal if you do get rained on (but I don't have a leather interior like you're planning).

Footbox vents with a blower helps keep things a little more comfortable in the hot months - especially if you're stuck in traffic.

A heater will add comfort and extend your driving season in the cooler months.

Enjoy the build and the driving!

Welcome! Seems to be too few down here in San Antonio, but perhaps we'll see you in San Marcos next month?

Today is the day, the roadster will be delivered after lunch! I have already got my donor car, built my body buck and this morning I will build the chassis dolly. RoadRacer I will be in San Marcos Friday to look at all the cars and get an up close view of the different styles of car building.
