    Explorer rear good ?

    Hey guys so got the 99 explorer motor, guys has a 8.8 rear from the explorer, I am assuming it would work ?

    The Explorer axle will have different spring and shock mounts than the Mustang axle. Also, the Explorer pumpkin won't have the "ears" for the angled links of the Mustang 4 link.


    I'm not sure how the width compares to a Mustang axle, or the drive shaft attach flange. Maybe the guts are the same?? At the very least, it seems like you'd need to cut off the Explorer mounts and weld on the Mustang mounts.

    I believe the differential in the explorer is offset (not centered) and it will not work in any FFR.
