London Cobra Show and Mid-Ohio track days

At last years show, we were talking about trying to get a bunch of the coupes out for the track days in front of the LCS. Well, I've ordered my race tires, and reserved a spot for Mid-Ohio (June 20-21) and the LCS (June 22-25).

I've been the last two years and it is a very enjoyable extended weekend and chance to get in some driving.

    Regards, Mike

I would love to go to this Cobra car show and I'd really like to drive the coupe BUT i just calculated the cost of fuel at over $1,000. Damn.

    Hi, Chris:
ha, I know how that feels. Last year I drove to Vancouver and back before stopping at LCS on the way back so total 6,000 miles. Was almost $2000 in fuel (although that is in Canadian $$ so only about $1400 USD).

Garry, I saw you had registered - looking forward to seeing you again. Are you staying near the track on Wed night or moving to Columbus? I was thinking of staying near the track and moving on Thurs morning.

    Regards, Mike

    Mike,

I'm heading to Columbus on Wednesday, after the track closes. That way I can ensure getting a good parking spot at the hotel. Staying at the LaQuinta again. My buddy, John Tongish, will also be at Mid Ohio and LCS.

    Hi Chris and Mike,

I'm Garry's co-pilot for the London car-show and Mid-Ohio track event. He and I have consumed lots of gas and covered many miles in past summers with our cars. Whatever you spend on petrol is well worth the friendships you will make along the way.

Chris, you can slip stream behind my trailer to save gas if you want. I leave Dana Point (south of L.A.) June 11th to head east and link up with Garry at Mid-Ohio. You are on your own going home as I plan to tour the east coast and drive maybe 12 more road courses before returning to so.Cal. in October. It helps to have married a very understanding woman 52 years ago.

Hope to say hi to you both in person in June.

    John

p.s.: Mike, that is a great shot of Karen sitting on her red and white Challenge car. It's deceptive in that it doesn't say a thing about what both can do on the track.

Dang John...you are making me rethink this trip...I need to find a copilot...wife of 46 years understands BUT wouldn't join me on that trip. On second thought, she has been telling me we need to start exploring the US since we have been all over the world SCUBA diving (4 more trips scheduled this year) and have not really done much but the western US. Need to work on on this. Is there limit on sign ups for car show?

    Chris,
My wife stays home and flies in when I get to Chicago and Long Island, where two of our three children now live.
Regarding sign up for the London Car show, no limit, all are welcome up to the morning of the cruise-in.

Hi, John, looking forward to meeting you in June. I'm already getting nervous and making lists of what to bring.

I think there is a limit for Mid-Ohio. There is a link from the LCS website to register for Mid-Ohio that didn't work, but the link on the track page itself worked fine for me.

    Hi Mike,
I have driven Mid-Ohio three times, once with LCS. It is a great track for our cars. Fast, nice elevation changes, smooth corners.
So we don't miss linking up, attached is a photo of me. I'm the good looking one on the right.

yeah, fast, elevation changes, smooth.... that 's what I worry about, plus the reverse camber at 4 and there is a bit of concrete coming out of 9 that seems to attract a lot of bumpers.

You guys crack me up. Only 104 more sleeps

    Garry,
It depends on how you look at it.

    Mike,
Remember you are not the only one out there with sweaty palms, serious apprehensions, and grave misgivings. That is how I feel every time i leave the pit. But it only lasts a nanosecond and then I am Mario Andretti in a car hand-built by a rank amature with high expectations and minimal experience. That's kinda part of the fun of it all, isn't it?
