    order of installing aluminum

I remember a thread about a discussion of a better order of installing aluminum panels and which ( most?) to use rivnuts to install. Any help appreciated. Thought I saved info.

If I was doing it again, I would drill all the aluminium, except the rear splash shield first and set it aside. The only thing I would install and rivet is the front firewall. I would rivnut or dzus rear firewall once the tank is in. Once i have the cockpit set up, including seat mounts, then I would install the cockpit aluminium. Front splash shield aluminum doesn't need installed until final.

IMOO, all the cockpit aluminum can be siliconed and riveted at pretty much any time. Rivnut the rear firewall. If you're doing your own wiring you might want to wait on the "console" and "tunnel" aluminum until you have everything sorted.

The debated panels are the inner splash guards that go behind the suspension. If I were doing it again I'd probably do those first before anything is in the way, but use riv-nuts or tap the chassis tubes so you can pull them back out, and be prepared to trim them again once everything else has been done.

Keep an eye on the pictures in the manual because you're not instructed to install some panels when you should but a sharp eye can pick them out.

Do not do the floor aluminum till you have your seat and seat belt stuff all mocked up. It is so much easier to do without that large aluminum piece installed. You can clecko and drill all of it ahead of time and install later after you coat them if you so desire.
