351w factory five hooker headers rusting...

Has anyone had a problem with the ceramic coated headers factory five supplies rusting?? Mine have been on for a couple of months and are rusting between the 4 pipes.

I've had issues with ceramic coated headers rusting where the 4 pipes meet the collector on another project.
They were Headman Headers and were on my 1980 Z/28.
I don't know if it is common or not.

My issue is before the 4 tubes meet. It's only the drivers side header. Honestly the coating looks very "thin" I guess the word would be, in that area.

There is some high heat paint available, that is a pretty close match to the ceramic color. You could probably touch them up a tad with some. Pretty sure mine was from VHT. Might halt the rust anyways.

Have you talked to FFR about this? If they don't help, work some naval jelly or one of the modern rust killers in there and then use the VHT.

351 headers likely from the same company (Hooker Headers) that Factory Five said recently unexpectedly dropped them as a customer? I haven't personally had a set, but I've consistently read about quality problems for the years I've been on the forums. Might not be too much that can be done. If they fit and do the job, may need to be happy you have them. They could be refinished or painted as mentioned. Good luck.

Hooker Headers is part of the Holley Performance Products company BTW.

I'll probably paint them. I got a set of ceramic coated side pipes from a forum member that have a little rust around the flange. Seems like the coating job might not have been the best. I'll probably hold on to them for a bit and call up Georgie when I'm ready and grab some gasn pipes and headers.

So FFR was up until recently, supplying Hooker's for the 351's, and the BBK headers for the 302's?
I did not know that. I thought they used to supply Hooker, for every engine up until 8 or 10 years back. I had also read about numerous issues with the Hookers over the years, and thought FFR had dumped them, and switched completely over to the BBK product.

I don't recall anyone having issues with the BBK ceramic coatings.

That is my understanding. I've had two sets of the BBK's for 302 blocks. Seemed very good quality. This was the post from Jay @ FF just a couple weeks ago regarding Hooker: http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showt...l=1#post271059
